Nemtsov Arrested, Again!

Boris Nemtsov, New Year's Eve 2010

Once again, the Gestapo-like goons of Vladimir Putin, who pretend to be police officers, have arrested the former first deputy prime minister of the country for daring to publicly criticize the Putin regime and to support jailed oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky.  This time, they did so even though Boris Nemtsov and his followers had a fully legalized permit to demonstrate.  That did not stop Putin, who ordered mass arrests (120 or more were taken into custody, more than a third of all those present — many dressed  in Santa Claus outfits) because that’s the only way he can silence his critics.

Nemtsov has now been sentenced to shocking term of fifteen days in a brutal, savage, uncivilized Russian prison where he, like Sergei Magnitsky, could easily be murdered by any number of killers. All for doing nothing more than peacefully speaking his mind in public.  Mind you, the New Year’s holiday is protracted in Russia, the most important of the year by far. Nemtsov will be held apart from his family throughout it, in mortal peril. This is the nature of the enemy he faces, that we face.

Welcome to neo-Soviet Russia!

This cowardly and dishonest act, flouting even the pretense of legality, reveals the Kremlin for what it is:  a crude bully, not a civilized government. Russia is ruled not by a man but by an ape, an ape no different from the infamous apes of the past like Stalin and Brezhnev, no different from Hitler or Mussolini or Mau.  He is a murdering bastard who is totally incapable of defending his policies in a civilized manner, who can only respond to verbal challenges with violence and imprisonment.

Russia is a fully realized Soviet state, and it is being aided and abetted by the craven, cowardly President of the United States, Barack Obama.  The longer Obama has ruled the USA, the more and more aggressive and draconian Putin has become.  Obama claimed that he was forging a new alliance with his counterpart Dmitri Medvedev that would lead to Russia embracing more democracy and less Putin, but the exact opposite has occurred. Perceiving weakness from the White House, Putin has only cracked down further.

The re-conviction of Mikhail Khodorkovsky clearly shows that Obama’s actions have been utter folly.  Medvedev has no intention of embracing civilized values, and no power to do so even if he did.  Because of Obama’s craven weakness, Russia is descending once again into neo-Soviet darkness and it is only a matter of time until Nemtsov, and the last group of pro-democracy activists, are killed or jailed for years in Siberia, just as they would have been in the USSR.

  1. Vova Putin, may Satan bless his dark and evil black soul, has learned well from his cheating, lying and murdering peers in the KGB and Stasi, methods which he now is putting into practice like the true power crazy megalomaniac that he is.

History will treat him no different than those other two extreme despot’s, Hitler and Stalin, with one exception – Vova will not be able to murder on the scale that his beloved two idols accomplished, as I doubt whether the Russian sheeple will allow a repeat of the “Red Terror” this time round.

  2. You would think the Putin regime would be able to let them demonstrate on a limited scale. The fact that they cannot do so is a sign of weakness and lack of sophistication.

  3. Also how are they going to cover up the food shortages in the back country that will begin later in this winter.

  4. Well Ron, I guess it will be the chance of a lifetime for Vova, with him blaming the evil Americans for all the shortages and what not problems that will beset Russia – albeit caused through his own inept and criminal dictatorship.

  5. Nemtsov is just looser in compare with a greate rightskeeper Julian Assange – Wikileaks founder. He is fighter for truth, and he opened many crimes of USA and West countries` governments and secret services.

    • Thats interesting Anton, considering a whole lot of his wikileaks blame Russia for the August war in Georgia.

      • Andrew
If Georgians wish a good for their country they must forget about Abchazia and S. Ossetia, and more they should agree with independance of mentioned above states. They should agree or Georgia can loose more and more.
Virtually the World has already forgotten about 08.08.08. Russia is a key partner for USA, German, French, EU. There are no interest to Georgian`s problems now.
So Assanges` disclosure about 08/08/08 is nothing and we aren`t affraid of it. But his posts about USA crimes are almost a revolution.

        • @He is fighter for truth … we aren`t affraid of it.

“We have [compromising materials] about Russia, about your government and businessmen,” Mr. Assange told the pro-government daily Izvestia. “But not as much as we’d like… We will publish these materials soon.”
          (…)
Assange and another WikiLeaks spokesperson, Kristinn Hrafnsson, who talked to the daily Kommersant Tuesday, refused to provide details. “Russians are going to find out a lot of interesting facts about their country,” Mr. Hrafnsson told Kommersant, adding that WikiLeaks would soon be targeting “despotic regimes in China, Russia, and Central Asia” in a series of fresh document dumps.

      Indeed.

      http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-22/wikileaks-joins-forces-with-billionaire-lebedev-gorbachev.html

Novaya Gazeta, the Moscow newspaper controlled by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and billionaire Alexander Lebedev, said it agreed to join forces with WikiLeaks to expose corruption in Russia.

Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, which publishes secret government and corporate documents online, has materials specifically about Russia that haven’t been published yet and Novaya Gazeta will help make them public, the newspaper said on its website today.

“Assange said that Russians will soon find out a lot about their country and he wasn’t bluffing,” Novaya Gazeta said. “Our collaboration will expose corruption at the top tiers of political power. No one is protected from the truth.”

The weekly newspaper is known in an industry dominated by state-run companies for its critical reports of the Kremlin and investigative coverage of Russian affairs.

Novaya Gazeta correspondent Anna Politkovskaya, who wrote about graft under then-President Vladimir Putin and chronicled abuses by military forces in Chechnya, was shot dead in her Moscow apartment building in 2006, on Putin’s birthday.

Novaya Gazeta received unlimited access to the WikiLeaks database, which has a “wide range” of materials, including documents about Politkovskaya’s murder as well as information about Russian politicians’ ties to organized crime, Nadezhda Prusenkova, a Novaya Gazeta spokeswoman, said by phone from Moscow. The newspaper will start releasing materials next month.

      (Which is this month.)

    • Nemtsov – looser ? o_O He is in the list of russian millionaires from 1997-th. Wish Mr Assange “to loose” with same results.

  6. Oh my… Nemtsov can surely feed all the hungry:) Nemtsov and Novodvorskaya.

  7. “But several opposition leaders, including former first deputy prime minister Boris Nemtsov, broke through police lines”

Yeah, that sort of thing would go over really well in the US.

    He is a fellow communist!

Suck to be a Russian…and an American!
With O’Bummer, the US is sure to collapse
and Russians will get their necks sawed off all over Russia
    by their ‘Slime monkeys.

First thing Vlad the Impaler Putin did is thank them

    • No, “These muslim rats” are not backed by Iran. They’re simply not Shia. They’re actually not backed by anyone on state level (althrough “Russian officials” and media often accuse US, “England”, “all Western secret services”, even Israel, and lately especially Georgia). But thank you for your “valuable comment”.

The stories of war are also the stories of survival. One of the most cruel conflicts in recent history was the one in Chechnya in the mid-1990s, which unofficially claimed about 300,000 lives. Many people are still missing, including the husband of journalist Fatima Tlisova. Tlisova herself was arrested seven times, and even poisoned, because of her reporting.

“When you report from the war, you see human flesh everywhere,” she says. “In the winter it is corpses half eaten by dogs on the streets, in the summer it is mostly the smell. It is penetrating your lungs.”
