Russia’s Barbaric, Shameless Racism

The Russian language is bizarre and crude, a perfect reflection of the people who speak it, people who turn their backs on a torrent of annual race murders or, even worse, participate in them.

Take the image at left, for instance. It’s a snapshot of a billboard that hangs in many Moscow subway stations, the kind you’re forced to look at as you take interminable rides up and down endless escalators, which are so long because of the subway’s dual purpose as transit and bomb shelter.

The text reads:  “Your country needs your records.  Every minute in Russia three new people are born.”

It’s totally shameless, barbaric racism.  The billboard is saying:  “Lots of babies are being born in Russia, and way too many with dark skin. What are you going to do about it, white woman?”

Russia is not only losing population fast, but the Slavic population within Russia is doing the worst job of all, leading to projections that Russia will soon become an Islamic country.  The Kremlin, to put it mildly, is panicking.

The same people who publish and read such blasphemy, of course, who deny the citizenship rights of dark-skinned “Russians,” who believe that only white-skinned Slavic people can properly even be called “Russian,” these same people refuse to let places like Chechnya be independent.  Instead, using blood violence, they insist that such dark-skinned people remain under Russia’s thumb, enslaved.

But is the word “record” really the best that the Russian language can come up with to convey this idea?  It’s not even a “Russian” word, of course, even someone who doesn’t know a word of Russian could recognize it, if they could get past the Russian script.  Seemingly, Russians lack the initiative to invent their own words for things like “hamburger,” even when the word has a sound like “h” that doesn’t exist in Russian.  So Russians just call it a “gahmboorgehr.”  Even many Russians would have to do a double-take to figure out just what “record” is supposed to mean in this context.  Unfortunately, upon figuring it out precious few would disagree with the idea.

As dissertation researcher Nina Kouprianova, temporarily relocated to Moscow, who took this snapshot points out, few foreigners realize that an essential element of the Putin campaign to bribe Russian mothers into having more children is naked racism.  Putin doesn’t want all Russians to have more babies, just the white Slavic ones, the ones the Russian languages refers to with the word “ROO-skee.” There are two words meaning “Russian” in the Russian language, with ROO-skee meaning “Slavic” and “rah-SEE-skee” meaning “not Slavic but somehow got a Russian Federation passport anyway.”  What other language in the world has two different words for its nationality like that? We can’t think of any.

Did the propagandists use the word “record” because they were illiterate, or because of the Russian language’s limitations? Did they understand how horrifying their message really was?  Were they ashamed of it? Is that why they couldn’t be more open and direct about it?  The facts speak for themselves; the billboard is reluctant to say what it really means.

It’s endlessly bizarre and frightening and disappointing, of course, that America’s first black president, Barack Obama, visited Russia and did not say one single word about this demographic pogrom.  Likewise, he ignored the ocean of dark-skinned blood washing over Russia, as dozens and dozens of dark-skinned citizens are murdered in race attacks each year.  Had Obama entered the Moscow subway without his entourage to have a look at this shamelessly racist posters, it’s not likely he’d have come out alive to tell the tale.  The subway is a meat grinder of racist violence.

There are other bizarre features of the Putin subway campaign. Other billboards quote famous people opining on the importance of families. But they aren’t Russians.  They’re, for instance, Francis Bacon and George Santayana.  Aren’t there any quotes from famous Russians saying families are great? Or is it that the government doesn’t think Russian subway patrons would find those Russians influential?  One poster shamelessly tells Russian mothers that if they don’t have at least six children, represented by a matrioshka doll, then they don’t love either their country or their family.

But Putin knows, of course, that none of these messages will take him where he wants to be.  He knows that despite his propaganda, the notion that Russians would respond to an appeal for personal sacrifice based on patriotism being made by a man representing an organization, the KGB, which killed more Russians than any foreign enemy is totally absurd.  That’s why Putin hatched his plan to bribe mothers into having babies.

We dare not imagine what kind of family relationships a plan like that will produce.

  1. What other language in the world has two different words for its nationality like that? We can’t think of any.

English/British, you piece of stenching scum.

    La Russophobe responds:

Stenching? That’s not a word. Maybe you should not hold yourself out as a linguistic expert.

Your ignorance of basic history is appalling. “English” is not a racial term. England was populated by a wide variety of foreign races. “English” is a political term just like “rossiskee.” If Belarus and Russia formed one country and Belarus kept on using the term to refer to their state, it would be similar.

Moreover, if “English” were a racial term, it would only highlight Russia’s appalling racism even more. England, of course, subjugated a large part of the dark-skinned world and promulgated slavery. It’s only in the perverted world of the Russian nationalist freak that two wrongs make a right.

    • That’s not a word.

In sense of vernacular usage, it’s still a word. Most of the posters (incl. the OP) I see there are pretty far from performing Shakespearian style.

      Now,
“English” is not a racial term.

First of all, take a dictionary and check whether ‘English’ is a referral to an ethnic group native to England, thus all other meanings are its derivatives only. So yes, essentially it’s an ethnic term.

Secondly, failure to render the distinction between russkij and rossijskij says nothing about Russia and Russians, it only shows the gaps in English vocabulary ;-)

      LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

You are not a real man, you cannot admit your error. You speak like a street thug, and have no basis to claim credibility in linguistic matters. You’re a liar and a coward.

Why don’t YOU take a dictionary and post the link to show you are right, witless monkey?

      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/english

There’s the link. Nothing about race, just “inhabitants.” England was populated by MANY races simultaneously, there IS NO English race. You have the IQ of a lemon.

      • “In sense of vernacular usage, it’s still a word.”

Where on earth do they use it, if I may ask? You don’t have to be specific but a general region of a specified nation would be helpful. I am not being confrontational (at least not about this word issue) but I find such things interesting. If I ever hear someone using this word in that manner I should like to be able to ask them if they are from such and such a place.

Unless you meant “vernacular usage” to say that because it convey’s the thought you wanted to express it counts as a word; to which I would say that you are ridiculousing very satisfactually.

      • Perhaps you should have read it a little more closely yourself. The interpretation you offer is clearly identified in the link you posted as “English” when employed as an adjective. Immediately below it, the definition when employed as a noun reads, “the people of England collectively, esp. as distinguished from the Scots, Welsh, and Irish. ”

It’s pretty hard not to see that as an identifier of race, wouldn’t you say? Maybe you owe the lemon-headed, lying, cowardly witless monkey eleutherios an apology. Your call, of course. When I’m wrong, I apologize, but that’s certainly no reason you should do it.

The English (from Old English: Englisc) are a nation and ethnic group native to England, who speak English. The English identity as a people is of early medieval origin, when they were known in Old English as the Anglecynn.

The largest single English population live in England, the largest country of the United Kingdom. In the 2000 United States Census, 24,509,692 Americans described their ancestry as wholly or partly English. In the 2006 Canadian Census, ‘English’ was the most common ethnic origin; 6,570,015 people described themselves as wholly or partly English. In Australia, the 2006 Australian Census recorded 6,298,945 people who described their ancestry, but not ethnicity, as ‘English’.

Also in German: “Deutschstämmige” means “Ethnic Germans”.

  2. sascha_hero Germany

i have to laugh about these russian idiots. The chechens are also white europeans with light hair and light eyes.so where is the point! Many russians look like semi-asians with their semi slit-eyes,their racism is pseudo-idiotic. By the way, most russian men are ugly garbage!

    • The chechens are also white europeans with light hair and light eyes.

      LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

This post does not say that Chechens have dark skin. It would be really nice if you read our posts BEFORE commenting. If you can’t manage that, we won’t be able to publish your comments. Get it, loser?

      • You’re unbelievable. It’s hard to imagine that there are people above age of 3 that should be told that there are many things (apart from skin colour) which result in overall non-European appearance.

        • Well eleutherios, knowign Chechens and Russians, the Chechens look far more european than the Russians do.

          • How true you are! Chechens have definitely very European appearance (and yet more European behaviour!).

            Write it a hundred times

            LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

What needs to be written a hundred times is that Chechens are not Slavic and that Slavs hate Chechens, and seek to kill them, for that reason. That Slavs refuse to offer Chechens the same rights of citizenship they enjoy, yet will not let them be free.

Write that 100 times. If you can write, which we doubt, ape.

            • Well eletherios, they look no different to other mountain cultures in Europe, Spaniards, Basques, Romanians etc.

As for “European behaviour” well, they behave in a far more civilised manner than raping murdering vermin such as the Russian armed forces…….

After all, it was Russia that invaded them twice in the 1990’s and murdered around half of the population….

              • I’ve already learned that any discussion with you is gonna be fruitless, but as for appalling lie about ‘murdering half of the population’, please try to interpret the data of the 2002 census, showing a huge 23% boost in Chechen/Ingush population.

                • Hmmm, from the same government that lies continuously……..

After all, Moscows man stated he would get 140% of all votes for Putins United Russia.

                  • The last ‘Moscow’s man’, Alu Alhanov, was deposed in 2007. Their current president is an autocratic ruler and doesn’t feel himself bound by Moscow laws.

                    • Really?

eleutherios, you are a laugh alright.

Kadyrov is Putins man in the Caucasus, plain and simple.

As for not feeling himself bound by “Moscows laws” thats ok, neither is anyone else in Russian government or business.

        • Hard to imagine? Ever heard of pogroms against Jews, you ridiculous little maggot? This post is about RACISM, not about color. Hostility to color is ONLY ONE FORM of racism.

You need to apologize for lying about the content of our post. If you don’t, we’ll ban you. Trying to change the subject simply won’t work.

          • “What other language in the world has two different words for its nationality like that”

            So easy: jewish & israeli

“The Russian language is bizarre and crude, a perfect reflection of the people who speak it, people who turn their backs on a torrent of annual race murders or, even worse, participate in them.”

If it not racism then what is it, to hate ALL Russians so maliciously? So everybody who speaks Russian, is “Untermensh” according to your classification? What about your favorite Russian dissidents? They also speak Russian. Are they exceptions from the rule?

        • “4. You may not aim personal abuse at other commenters. If you do, your comment may be deleted.

          5. You may not aim racist abuse at anyone. If you do, your comment may be deleted.”

Please note, eleutherios, that you are a “loser” and a “ridiculous little maggot” because you disagree with the point of view expressed and the subsequent substantiation of it – yet the allegation just above that most Russian men are “ugly garbage” as well as the plainly racist (and inaccurate) allegation that many Russians look like “semi-asians with their semi-slit eyes” passes unchallenged.

  3. Come on “eleutherios” are you for real with your wild and totally unfounded comments!!!

    For your information England has several names for its country. They are;

    1. England, – a country that is part of the United Kingdom. And it shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west; the Irish Sea is to the north west, the Celtic Sea to the south west and the North Sea to the east, with the English Channel to the south separating it from continental Europe.

    2. Britain, – may refer to Great Britain or United Kingdom.

    3. United Kingdom, means “Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.

    4. Great Britain, refers to the majority of the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.

    5. Mother England, a term used when England was an Empire on which the sun never ever set.

So eleutherios as you can see none of which are racist or derogatory. Period!!

Now for your information “English” in the official English Oxford Dictionary means “of England or its people or language”. While “British” in the official English Dictionary means “of Great Britain ; the British, the people of Great Britain”.

  4. He-he. LR thinks that minorities in Russia are all black. The nice young lady does not look like obviously Slavic (let alone Russian) to me. She easily could be Chechen.

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

It’s sad you think that virulent racism, which results in the outright murder of dozens and dozens of dark-skinned people every year in Russia, is something to joke about.

Also sad that you don’t read the want ads in Russia (perhaps you don’t even speak Russian?). They clearly state where apartments are concerned NO CHECHENS WANTED or NO CAUCASIAN WANTED. Russian racism against Chechens is not necessarily based on color, and we have never said otherwise, which only makes it that much more virulent.

    • I find it unusual that you use the name “boba”, what does it mean? is it a shortened version of ‘baboon’? Or is it in fact supposed to be the cyrillic “vova”, the Russian endearment version for the name Volodymyr. And then to compound your stupidity you, you of all people laugh, what’s that old saying “simple things amuse simple minds”.

Take a piece of well meant advice chum, this blog is for “sane contributors” to discuss ruSSia as run by that KGB lying, stealing and murdering piece of faeces, Vova Putin (read – Putler); and the way he is destroying Russia. So read the subject matter first, then analyze it, and only then reply logically to the blog.

      • Next time before you type anything please don’t forget to take your medicine.

      • @Bohdan: “I find it unusual that you use the name “boba”, what does it mean?”

‘Boba’ is a Jewish-Russian/Ukrainian nickname for Robert, sometimes – for Boris.

“is it a shortened version of ‘baboon’?”

No. But only a baboon would make fun of other man’s name.

        “you illiterate baboon”

Actually, the “illiterate baboon” here are you, because you think that “boba” is short for “baboon”. You can’t distinguish between ‘o’ and ‘a’? Or is it dyslexia?

        “you judge people by yourself.”

And you judge people by their name.

        • RTR you are an illiterate moron! Before you open your stupid mouth and put pen to paper READ the actual comment and reply to it then, rather then twisting out of context what I have written and spreading your lying propaganda!

Your irresponsible statement that “‘Boba’ is a Jewish-Russian/Ukrainian nickname for Robert, sometimes – for Boris. ” is utter rubbish as far as Ukrainian goes. In all my decades on this planet, called ‘Earth’ I have never met any Ukrainian so named i.e, Boba or Robert where both parents were Ukrainian.

Now be a good and take your medicine.

  5. This is disgusting!
Where does it say:”Lots of babies are being born in Russia, and way too many with dark skin. What are you going to do about it, white woman?” on this picture?

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

If you’d take the time to read the text and link BEFORE commenting like a gorilla, you’d see that there is no claim that there are words on the poster saying that, it is the CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD SUBTEXT. The link lays it out in great detail. If you can’t be bothered to read, we can’t be bothered to allow you to comment, blockhead.

If the subtext were incorrect, then it would be easy for you to find subway billboard images of dark-skinned families being encouraged to have children. Can you? We think not.

    • FWIW, I don’t see this poster LR way, either. It can be an attempt to counter dwindling Russian population; or it can be a continuation of infamous Stalin’s “бабы еще нарожают” (women will breed more) – but I don’t see racism in this poster.

Russia today is terrible enough; so it is not necessary to invent viciousness where it doesn’t exist.

      Just my 2 cents

      • Well said, Felix, and not just because your opinion is in opposition to the editorial. It’s good to see the courage of conviction you display, and I respect your opinion although I don’t necessarily agree with it. Perhaps when I win that case of Stella, you’ll drive up to share it; you’d be welcome.

  6. I have one small disagreement with something stated in the article linked to. The author states:

“In 2008, Russia’s pro-natalism resulted in record birth rates—the highest since the Soviet Union’s collapse.”

I can’t say what if any effect the pro-natalism policies had but the main cause of the recent increase in birth rates is likely the fact that the children of the minor baby boom that was occuring before the systemic failure of the USSR are reaching the age when they are having their 1.16 children per woman.

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

Molodets! This is what blogging is all about!

  7. The term “reflection” is being used as a common English figure of speech. The Russians as a people are being called bizarre and crude – not their looks. I hope that Clears things up a bit. Or are you referring to some other part of the editorial when you say that the apearance of the Russian people is being mocked?

  8. Wow, you poor dimwit. Do you even realize in what context the word `record` is used here?

‘The country needs your records’ means the country needs new blood to set new records and accomplish new things; in medicine, science, sports or whatever.

You know, phobia is a condition and you have a serious case of it, you paranoid twit. I suggest you crawl back into whatever cocoon of incompetence you spawned from.

and a big fat L-O-L at the suggestion that Russian is a simple language while English has countless words that have triple meanings and is probably the easiest and least expressive language out there and that’s why the whole world speaks it.

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

It’s obvious that you don’t speak Russian and have no idea whatsoever what you are talking about.

    • It’s obvious I don’t speak Russian? Based on what? Your assumption, once again?

Get off LSD, it’s making you delusional.

For your information, I teach Russian and English in Italy.

The word “record” means “achievement” in the context it was used.

      You are bloody stupid.

  9. “The billboard is saying: ”Lots of babies are being born in Russia, and way too many with dark skin. What are you going to do about it, white woman?”

Where does it say that? Must be in really tiny blue-and-white print, so it blends with the background.

Oh, you mean that’s what it says TO YOU. That old hidden-message mojo thang. Gotcha.

I’m beginning to get the feeling this blog is a really subtle joke, that you’re secretly laughing your faces off at the rubes who get all wound up when you put something deliberately crazy out there. I mean, it doesn’t really matter what the Russians put on a billboard, because you’ll just invent your own meaning for the text. If it said “Huge Sale on Used Cars at Honest Mikhail’s Downtown Lot!!!”, you’d cite it as evidence the Russian auto industry was collapsing. Well, they don’t really have much of an auto industry except for heavy trucks and military vehicles, but you know what I mean.

And if you speak Russian so well, why do you need a translator?

  10. I think that what eleutherios is trying to state here is that russki/russiski are more than basically analogous to English/British. While I often agree with LR his point to me seems well taken here. Any large multinational state likely has some word that is used to describe all its citizens even if we might not always find the word to be exactingly representational. Basically the word likely is the commonsense replacement of Soviet in the modern , accurate and political use of the Russian language. Does anyone out there know if the word Russiski is even occsionally used in a derogatory fashion by Russians? On a more humorous note, I once read of a Scottish woman who told a black lady from London that she hated her because she was English not because she was black. LOL! I would like to hear more from our Russian friends on this one!

  11. Corey –
I don’t see the similarity between russki/rossiyski and English/British. Maybe a few centuries ago, but certainly not today. England is part of Britain (or British Empire, or UK – whatever you prefer). So, it would be like Russian / Soviet (or Tatar / Russian, although this analogy is of course ridiculous).

I can’t think of any distinction, similar to Russki / Rossiyski. Maybe there is, but English / British isn’t it.

  12. I showed this poster to my Russian wife, a born and raised Muscovite.

It is no new thing to her. It is racist.

    • I do understand and agree with LR’s claim regarding the likely subtext of the message. The point I was trying to make above was about the use and meaning of the words Russki/Russiski especially as commonly understood and used by the modern day Russian people. As far as I can make out, at present, without the help of any online Russians yet, the words seem to be pretty much the same thing as English/British. Again any help much appreciated.

  13. That article by Nina Kouprianova is certainly on an interesting website, to say the least (and I don’t mean a good kind of interesting).

    • Natalie – can you elaborate? I found that site a little boring (but maybe it’s my short attention span) – but nothing that would raise eyebrows…

    • Natalie, your generic smear is perfectly in line with the neo-Soviet Kremlin and indeed the practice in the USSR. You are truly malignant.

  14. You people are too rough on each other. Please use the same technique used in the legislatures. Say “my friend” etc. etc. when you really want to kill each other. I can pick up on what’s going on better without the rough language.

  15. I often agree with La Russophobe, but this time it’s gross to start an article on english language blog with the description of poster and say that it “states” something… (but it does not) you mislead. Yes, of cause you won’t see blacks on posters. Yes, there are elements of racism on this poster. But when you read first paragraphs of the article you clearly think that it actually states it.
You know what I mean? 57% in Britain now want to prohibit Burka. 10 years ago I guess it would also be considered racist. After 9/11 not so much so.
Yes, I know it’s kind of different things in this case, but it’s rather not Racism here. It’s national policy, imperial policy of treating people as subject of empire which is based in Moscow. Majority of Russians does not benefit from this “racism” at all. Because they are also treated like slaves of this empire. This is very old-style policy, which Russiaa used even in 19th century and it fuels nationalism in republics and may lead to Russia’s collapse. But I would not call it Racism. When Americans used blacks for profit and striped them of any way to become citizen – this was racism. If you check Russian government – there are many non-white people. For example, MVD minister is Rashid Nurgaliyev.
If you look carefully at the face of this women, it is not slavic at all. It’s rather asian-tatar face.
There is racism in Russia, especially in Moscow, I agree. But in this case, it’s rather heavily handed nationalism and not modern old-syle imperial policy of russification.
By the way, it would help if foreign countries opened more information hubs for Russians because Russia is actually very isolated from the modern world, so many people there just don’t get many things. I can’t blame Russians for such posters because they have too little information about modern world and how to build modern policy. There is also bloody Kremlin there who makes white Russians slaves as well as non-white. In fact, many white Russians have even worse prospects than those who came to earn some money. Because immigrants have some place to return where Kremlin does not project power anymore, like Georgians (I hope it stays like that). But white Russians are total slaves because they are 100% Kremlin subjects.

    • “when you read first paragraphs of the article you clearly think that it actually states it.”

The better practice would be read the ENTIRE article before making conclusions, wouldn’t it?

It’s not our goal to have any reader agree with us all the time. If any did, that would be a great cause of concern for us. If we’re not provocative and controversial, we’re nothing.

The number of comments on this post is proof positive we are provoking discussion and analsyis of important issues on Russia, and doing it far better than any other blog on this planet. And we’ll keep right on doing it until Khodorkovsky and Putin switch places.

  16. Stalin sent people to GULAG not by their nationality but if they pose potential threat to the state. If you’re stupid and poor, you probably will stay “free”. There was not so much problem of Racism in Soviet Union, but the problem of slavery of all of the population. Before 1917 Revolution, I don’t think there was big problem of Racism as well. But there was a problem of badly designed policy of “russification” of population. (everyone has to speak Russian language, etc. etc.) I think such posters is not an example of Racism, but an example that Russians population is still in slavery conditions. Such posters show Kremlin fears of loosing control of the old rusting stupid empire way of governing. It’s like – you have two white rats and two black rats and you know that white rats are easier to deal with, they won’t bite you when you forget to feed them. So you, naturally, want more white rats rather than black. Kremlin fuels this stupidity.
Russians problem is that they are still 90% slaves. That;s why you can make with them whatever you want very often. And this stupid Kremlin policy may lead to very bad regime in the close future. Maybe ultra-nationalists fascist will take power.
There will be always this mess until majority of Russians will agree to be slave-like.

    • You said that “Stalin sent people to GULAG not by their nationality but if they pose potential threat to the state.” You must be kidding. While the second part of your statement is undoubtedly true, I think everybody knows about wholesale deportation of entire ethnic groups, such as Chechens and Tartars, Balkars and Greeks, Chircassians and Kurds, and so om and so on.

Are you trying to say that every single Tartar in Crimea, every single man, woman or child among them, regardless of their age, station in life, health or activity was Stalin’s enemy?

      • Yup, Stalin and Beria, Mikoyan and Kaganovich were all disgusting white supremacists, bloody Russian racist Nazis.

        • Interestingly, none of them was russian, e.g., stalin and beria were from georgia.

          • Well, Stalin is lauded as the great Russian (3rd in popularity poll, rehabilitated in text books, and now big posters all over Moscow…….)

Then there is Lenin (who killed just as many people as Stalin, and created the state machinery that did it), not to mention Yhezov and Yagoda……

            • I don’t care, i only mean that before making bold claims, one should check the history. According to elefantos, the bloody russian racist nazi are two georgians, one armenian, and a jew.

  17. The word “Russia” in Russian is defined only as an adjective. Because it was never a country or will be.

This was an idea popularized by Peter the First to describe all of “his” people. “A Russ Like Person”. Rooskie Chelovek. That is after he seen Europe and Put a tax on the “Bearded Ones”. Try as he could there was no country only an empire to oppress the minorities on the borders. This applies to Savok and Put/Med.

Ukraine it has a different meaning. Russ/Ukraine is a Noun. The term Rossiya is to sow. That is to mean, the scattered ones further away. While ooh-krayini means in the country, a word used since the eleventh century.

Moscali before calling themselves Russians, had the franchise on collecting Mongol taxes and meet out punishment even more sever than the Mongols. Nothing much has changed today, except RaSSiya has outgrown its mongol base.

To expect Rasha to catch up to the rest of Europe in civility, without Roosha breaking up is unrealistic. At least the Mongols had order and one could travel without getting mugged. Marco Polo noted this.

    • “The word “Russia” in Russian is defined only as an adjective. ” Ты чи шо, сука бандеровская, с дуба ляснулся? Learn English.

“Ukraine it has a different meaning.” Ukraine means “Okraine”, in translation “remote area” (in meaning of Great Russia). It was never considered as a country, and it did not exist as a country until the late 20th century.

“To expect Rasha to catch up to the rest of Europe in civility, without Roosha breaking up is unrealistic.”

Вы, укро-хохлы ну шибко цивильные, давно ли с деревьев спрыгнули, младшие братья по разуму?

      • H.V. = Expletive deleted, body parts person.
You misquoted me in Parenthesis childishly.

For the record: Great Russia means; further away. Just as on ancient Greek maps “Sicily” was called “Megas Helles” and not because it was bigger than the Greece.

H.V. Learn grammar, if you need to post here in English your “Nashi” lies.

Russia never existed before Ukraine almost westernized it. You stole its good name and the European History, going back to Kyiv.

Moscovia a trash ladden swamp, was populated by “RoSSiyani” Bearded Slavic Diaspora Sown FURTHER away. (Great Russia) Then united with a people that were driven out of Asia because they were too warlike and joined their marauding bands of Tatars, with whom they enjoyed living in mud huts and particularly nasty undomesticated black pigs who did not mind incestous drunks.

Moscali slaughtered and betrayed each other to form even bigger meaner hoards, with their by now cousins of Genghis Khan.

When the Kaghan of one group was invited for dinner in Moscovy and left having an arrow in his back when he stepped beyond the zone of “Mongol Hospitality”.

RaSSiya to this day failed to become a proper nation, having culture not borrowed from Europe. Mostly a value system, based on alcoholism and how drunk you can get. Moscovia cannot survive without fresh bloodletting since Savokia collapsed.

There is no investment because money is kept abroad by those at the top of the Mafioso Food Chain who are afraid of their comrads.

Good luck in convincing Russophobes that now Put/Med means democratic changes in what was “Greater Russia”.

        • Georg, why all khokhols from Okraine like you like to take western nicknames?

“Russia never existed before Ukraine almost westernized it. You stole its good name and the European History, going back to Kyiv.”

This is quite a familiar song of all khokhols from 90-s okraine claim of “independence”. Trying to get your new “okraian” history, ukro? Ukraine is NEITHER an adjective NOR a noun, it is simply nothing, not even an interjection. And the Russian history indeed involves Kiev (and not your stupid “Kyiv”, ukro). Wild ukros at that time were jumping over trees and were used by Russians as house animals. If there would be no Russia, you smart ass would sit in a German concentration camp close to “Kyiv”. Поганые Ондрийки и Тараски не помнящие родства — ну хуже татарина, честное слово!

“RaSSiya to this day failed to become a proper nation, having culture not borrowed from Europe. ”

Thanks God that Russia not “borrowed” its culture from Europe. Russia has its own culture which is ancient and rich, and which you, funny ukros, don’t have at all. Even ukro-born writers and poets (like Gogol’ and Shevchenko) wrote in Russian — hilarious! It says something about the okrainian “culture”.

          • @ H.V. = Expletive deleted, body parts person and drunken impotent Neo Savokian commie stooge. Yes Ukrainian writers wrote in Rashan but always about Ukraine or in Ukrainian. Such as Checkhov Dostoevsky and Bulgakov.

KakTsap Rashan culture is like your public toilets, where crap is wiped as high as can be reached, without toilet paper, because your whores use it for services. You present yourself as a Bungholed Rooshan Nationalist.

It is true Roosha never got culture from Europe just technology, and most of it from Ukraine. Moscovskayi Czars at one time attempted to speak French, because RaSSiyski Yazik is just a trashy Surzik used to scare pigs.

If other languages are forbidden, RaSSiyki must be used as if toilet paper is scarce since not many guttural words are available, and. When cursing another savok for getting in line ahead of you. Bolshevik MVD used to shoot their own Muziks in the back.

Shevchenko lived to become Great, in spite of RaSSiyan culture of repression and slavery, dating back as far as the first arrow in the back shot in Suzdal.

…Cuckold Tsar Nicholas I, himself ordered that Shevchenko be forbidden to write, draw, and paint while in military exile and serving at the Orenburg and Orsk fortresses. Shevchenko managed to continue his secretly written
poems in several handmade ‘bootleg booklets’ (1847, 1848, 1849, 1850).

Many of the drawings and paintings he made while in exile depict the life of the indigenous Kazakhs. (Cossacks to you)

Owing to Shevchenko’s skill as a painter, he was included in a military expedition to survey and describe the Aral Sea (1848–9).
            http://www.infoukes.com/shevchenkomuseum/art.htm

In 1850 Shevchenko was transferred to the Novopetrovskoe fortress (now Fort Shevchenko in Kazakhstan), where the terms of his captivity were more harshly enforced. Nevertheless, he managed to create over a hundred watercolor and pencil drawings and write several novellas in Russian. Finally released from militaryexile in 1857, two years after Nicholas I’s death, Shevchenko was not allowed to live in Ukraine. After spending half a year in Nizhnii Novgorod, he moved to Saint Petersburg. He was allowed to visit relatives and friends Ukraine in 1859, but there he was detained and interrogated and sent back to Saint Petersburg.

Shevchenko remained under police surveillance until his death. He was buried in Saint Petersburg, but two months later, in accordance with his wishes, his remains were transported to Ukraine and reburied on Chernecha Hora (Monk’s Mountain) near Kaniv. Since that time, his grave has been a ‘holy’ place of visitation by millions of Ukrainians. Today it is part of the Kaniv Museum-Preserve (est 1925).

Shevchenko has had a unique place in Ukrainian cultural history and in world literature. Through his writings he laid the foundations for the creation of a fully functional modern Ukrainian literature. His poetry contributed greatly to the growth of Ukrainian national consciousness, and his influence on various facets of Ukrainian intellectual, literary, and national life is still felt to this day.

            • A close friend of mine recently shared with me your website and I find it to be an excellent resource for my school. This really changed my way of thinking about things on more than a few topics today. It’s funny I believed I knew what I was talking about before reading your blog but it turns out I am a dum dum. I just shared this on my page and 89 of my friends have already read it!

      • Hui Vam??? your choice of the two names intrigues me, but not your grossly crude language!

But let me get back to ‘Hui Vam’, as there is no such two words in the English language. HOWEVER in your ruSSian there are, and they actually in cyrillic are written (my sincere apology for using the first word, but to prove my point I found it necessary) as “Хуй Вам”! Which transliterates into English as ‘Khui Vam’, now as the letter ‘h’ does not exist in the Russian alphabet how convenient it is to delete the letter “K” and come up with “Hui Vam”.

If you think that you are smarter in outfoxing La Russophobe’s censors and the rest of its sane bloggers, I suggest you crawl back to your filthy pigsty and practice your deception on them. Believe me they will listen to you and not answer back.

This last paragraph is addressed to the attention of LA RUSSOPHOBE, as I believe this crude mouthed moron is “taking a lend of you and your good name” to use – what to me is obviously – a bastardized misspelling of an offensive word.

If I’ve made an error I will be quite happy to apologize, but somehow I doubt it.

  18. Actually I think that this poster is not the real one that LaRussophobe was looking for. This one makes her point and is less “racist”.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article310194.ece

  19. “The number of comments on this post is proof positive we are provoking discussion and analsyis of important issues on Russia”

Keep telling y0urself that. When you’re changing minds, you’re making progress – provoking discussion in which the same viewpoints are shrilly defended by the same polar opposites doesn’t really achieve much.

What you could do, though, is contrast this bizarre Russian behaviour with a positive example!! How’s about, say, a poster from the subway in New York that shows a smiling black woman surrounded by black babies, with accompanying text that exhorts black women to have more children? Can’t find one? Well, a similarly-themed government intiative from any progressive country. No? Racists.

Russia is not nearly as multicultural as North America, and an overwhelming majority are white. Would it make sense if the poster had featured a Chechen woman, with an encouraging message from the government for Chechen families to have more children? Russians, not surprisingly, would be puzzled, and the message is targeted at Russians, not Americans. The Russian population has been in decline for the last decade or better; this is not news. There’s actually a substantial cash award for having more than one child.

    • I agree with most of comments of Mark, also with that you can find much more obviously racist posters both in US an Europe. But the matter of fact is that the poster discussed in the editorial is not racist AT ALL. 50% of Russian ladies look a bit Asian, as there are so many Asian national groups who’re close to the center of Russia and who have naturally mixed over many centuries with ethnic Russians (I can think about tartar, burjat, kalmyk, mordva, marij, to name just a few). I may guess that the poster was classified as “racist” because of little knowledge of Russia by the author, and I think she should change the topic, as such dilettantish way of writing about Russia really sucks.

      • MARK: Dozens and dozens of people are murdered in Russia every year because of their race. This simply doesn’t happen in the USA, so your “concern” is utterly ridiculous. If you are admitting, though, that the USA is the standard by which Russia must be judged, we’re happy to agree. This means that because of Russia’s lack of change of power in elections the Putin regime is illegitimate and must be ousted! You don’t think at all before you write, do you? If you think it’s easy to build a blog with 3-6,000 daily visits and hundreds of weekly comments, we suggest you try. We’d love to laugh at your efforts. Or you could just ask the operator of any other Russian blog in existence, each and every one of which has failed to do so. The fact is that the number of comments on this post shows clearly that it touched nerve, exactly what it was intended to do. Had it stood for a week without receiving a single comment (something that never happens with any of our editorials), you could then label it a failure. Your childish jealousy is rather embarrassing even to us, we advise you to pipe down. With every word you just make it worse and worse.

HUI VAM: Glad you agree this poster is racist. We don’t feel that the existence of “more racist” posters in other countries excuses their presence in Russia, especially not when Russia leads the industrialized world in race murders. But you’re entitled to your own psychotic opinion. You should realize, however, that our opinion about the poster is shared BY A PERSON WHO LIVES IN RUSSIA AND WHO IS RUSSIAN (did you even read our link before commenting, as any civilized blog reader is obligated to do?). So your suggestion that we are alone in thinking so, or alone among foreigners, is just a lie.

        • “Dozens and dozens of people are murdered in Russia every year because of their race. This simply doesn’t happen in the USA, so your “concern” is utterly ridiculous. ”

          http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20203888/

          • Mark, you’re really pushing it now. You are about one millisecond away from being banned.

That link is not about black people being killed BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK. It’s not about racist murders, most of those blacks WERE KILLED BY BLACKS.

There’s no doubt that blacks in America are more victimized by street crime than whites, and no doubt that it’s deplorable But IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS POST AND NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA. America’s murder rate is FAR LOWER than that of Russia, AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH RACE MURDER AS RUSSIA DOES. You simply must stop this dishonest propagandizing. We won’t permit it, even though it is very useful as an illustration of the depths to which the Putin apologists will sink.

            • I’m not a Putin apologist. I’d happily see him unseated in favour of a progressive leader who would institute reforms that would benefit the Russian people, as well as help her reach her potential. I just don’t agree that Khodorkovsy or Nemtsov or Kasparov is that leader.

        • “Glad you agree this poster is racist… But you’re entitled to your own psychotic opinion. ”

Huj vam! (with lowercase “vam”). LR, everybody knows that when you have nothing factual to respond, you always start personal attacks. So, I’m glad to be “psychotic”, as then I’m right and you have nothing to say.

“BY A PERSON WHO LIVES IN RUSSIA AND WHO IS RUSSIAN”

Please, tell this person that he’s clueless, and don’t trust any single opinion anymore.

“That link is not about black people being killed BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK. It’s not about racist murders, most of those blacks WERE KILLED BY BLACKS.”

What about white people killed by blacks in the US? What about Georgia Tech, was it not a racial crime?

“What’s more, America’s murder rate is FAR LOWER than that of Russia. You simply must stop this dishonest propagandizing. ”

“Dishonest propagandizing” — bravo, what a brainwashing term. Are you not dishonest to Russians, lady? Russia didn’t have any Georgia Tech.

          • Why are you talking about Georgia Tech. As a resident of Atlanta, I don’t recall any racial murders in recent memory. Last week, a student at Georgia Tech was found murdered and since illegal drugs were found in his residence, it is assumed to be a drug related crime and I would also suppose that the victim knew his assailant. They have not yet caught any suspect, though. Is this the crime to which you refer?

  20. Yes, La Russophobe, I agree that free press must be sometimes naughty and provocative. Good job, I agree. My only suggestion, to the otherwise perfect website, is that you yourself should be careful not to become racist towards modern Russians. The fact that they have terrible country does not make them stupid idiots, not all of them at least. There is a fine line which better not to cross, otherwise you will become racist yourself. Several hundred years ago much more countries were like Russia, it does not mean that all people were crazy back then. Even if 1% of Russians are very well educated liberal and democratic people, it makes 1 million 400 thousands people. And they must not be offended. Even if there are only 1000 of them among 140 millions.

    • So, you think that that they have terrible country does not make them stupid idiots, not all of them at least. I would agree with the “not all of them” part, but for the rest, it does make them stupid idiots.

Otherwise, why would they have such a terrible country? Is there a foreign occupation going on? Do they suffer from lack of resources? Perhaps, there was a terrible volcano eruption or another natural disaster? Why, then?

And now, they really want to have what they have. They voted for the present dictatorship and approve of the job it does in overwhelming numbers. And they don’t want freedom and democracy, and many statements have been made to that effect everywhere, including on this board.

So, they are either deceived or don’t get it. Both are indicative of being idiots, to say nothing of being drunk on vodka all the time. OK, not all, but most. I guess 99% according to your numbers

      • RV, I will not argue with you that majority of Russian population proved themselves idiotic so far. However, there was not real election there. All elections were fraud, especially for current regime.
There were terrorist attacks, there was war in Chechnia, etc. all of this for the purpose of current regime.
Many Russians who emigrate, then become quite successful in the West. Not all, but there are some examples. Quite a lot of people emmigrated from Russia during last decades. Yes, the vast majority is extremely dumb. But this is not something in the blood, etc. It’s because the region is in middle ages. I don’t know why, I am not god. But I know that when Russians go to USA, Europe, even China, they live quite well there. It means that you can’t say that it is Russians by blood who are stupid. It’s Russians who live in Russia and don’t care. But, again, it’s not 100%. 1% maybe very different but they can’t do much because of those 99%.
So don’t cross the line or you will become racist yourself. Imagine you will loose your citizenship and will be sent to Russiam, get Russian citizenship and Russian job. What will you do there? I guess you will go away, right? But not all Russians can do that. Majority of people like to live in the area they were born.
So, if you are among 1% and don’t want to leave Russia, what will you do? Do you know that in 2009 there were more than 2000 demonstrations in Russia? But you won’t see them anywhere because media is under state control. So there some Russians who are very different from majority. This website does not offer many solutions. And visitors as well. You like to say how terrible is this, how terrible is that. What do you propose? There are thousands of americans in Moscow by the way, who will not pay even 1 dollar to make Russia more free. Because they get expat salaries there and like the way things are. It’s all quite complicated actually.
There is no unity in Russia toward current regime. But it’s hard to change things there. I think you would not offer any real solutions apart from blaming Obama. But Obama can’t do much as well because he has to think about nuclear weapons. You often see yourself in Russians, only several hundred (or maybe doezen) years earlier, right? Does it make you love yourself more? You are so modern and educated! But you have no solutions!

        • Of course they didn’t have fair elections in their history, except maybe when President Yeltsin was first elected. But who should make “real elections” there?

I thought it’s the Russian public’s job. When we got rid of the British in 1770’s, who do you think did it? Our ancestors did, because they wanted democratic rule, or at least what they understood as democratic then. However, numerous polls and other research show that Russians overwhelmingly (not 100% of course) don’t want fair elections, they don’t want democracy or freedom. They want Putin to be the ruler for life.

So, the fact they did not have real elections that you mentioned should not come with the word “however,” and it’s not the explanation for being idiots; that’s how the public really wanted it.

I never said that Russians are stupid “by blood” as you put it. It implies genetic inferiority in which I don’t believe. Neither Russians nor any ethnic group on Earth is genetically different from any other ethnic group, in my view.

You make a good point that many emigre Russians are quite successful. I don’t know the statistics on this nor even how to define “being successful.” But if this is true, then the only reasons for the sorry state of affairs in Russia is their culture. When they emigrate, the new culture gradually fixes the old one, but when they are in Russia, we see a different picture.

          • I agree with you in general. My main idea was that it’s not good idea to treat Russians like doomed rascists. It leads to cold war relations. When you become too passionate towards treating Russians without hope that they can change, it looks like you yourself see something inside of you on the wild side. You see what I mean? Growing up in Soviet Union, I did not see any hate towards Americans or any other nation. It does not mean that USSR was not empire of evil. What I try to say, Russia may well be in another historical phase. More in middle ages. I don’t like it, but it does not make Russians doomed. It just makes their lifes much more miserable in general. There is very little information in Russia about modern world. Even in relatively free 1990s it was like that. This is great that there Radio Free Europe, but majority of Russians can’t listen to it.

  21. I must confess I didn’t see the proviso in the previous link that advised the majority of black murders in the USA were committed by other blacks, although I’d dispute this somehow makes it less tragic. Sloppy research. However, you did say that it was deplorable, which is admirable. If it has nothing to do with the post, why did you introduce it in the first place? I was simply responding to your contention that race-based murder does not occur in the United States. I didn’t just pop it in there to change the subject, which was in fact racism, but replied directly to an issue you introduced.

“If you are admitting, though, that the USA is the standard by which Russia must be judged, we’re happy to agree. ”

    All right, how about this, then;

“At least 60 people were killed and 306 injured in hate attacks in Russia last year, according to SOVA, a Moscow-based group that tracks racist violence.
Moscow’s police chief said last month that 62 attacks on people of non-Slavic appearance were registered in the capital alone last year, including 26 murders.”

    http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/LDE61O1YT.htm

“The number of attacks on blacks increased 8% to 2,876, accounting for seven of every 10 race-motivated crimes. ”

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-11-23-hate-crimes_N.htm

I suppose you might suggest that SOVA and the Moscow police have an interest in under-reporting hate crime and race-based murders, but they’d have to do an awful lot of under-reporting to bridge the gap between 306 and 2,876. I’m afraid no breakdown of hate crimes against blacks in the USA was provided, so I could not ascertain how many resulted in death. Even if it were only 10%, that’d still be 280.

  22. This dark-haired, dark-eyed and high-cheekbone woman on the poster looks like a Muslim girl. In fact, she was probably painted based on either this Chechen woman Zarina

or this famous Tatar singer Alsou:

It’s totally shameless, barbaric racism. The billboard is saying: ”Lots of babies are being born in Russia, and way too many with blond hair. What are you going to do about it, dark-haired woman?”

And why did the painter choose a light-skinned Tatar/Chechen-looking woman and not a dark-skinned Australian aborigine or a black African woman? He is clearly afraid that Australian aborigines and African-Russians may soon become a majority in Russia.

“The Russian language is bizarre and crude”

To ignorant xenophobic bigots, all foreign languages sound “bizarre and crude”.

“But is the word “record” really the best that the Russian language can come up with to convey this idea? It’s not even a “Russian” word. Seemingly, Russians lack the initiative to invent their own words”

Yes, “record” is a French/Latin word:

    http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=record

record (v.) – “to get by heart,” from Old French: recorder “repeat, recite, report,” from Latin: recordari “remember, call to mind”

Clearly, Russians lack the initiative to invent their own words. The English and the Americans would never use words of foreign origin like “record”.

“Even many Russians would have to do a double-take to figure out just what “record” is supposed to mean in this context.”

Well, the word Реко́рд is a very common Russian sports word and is known to every child. It means “the highest, unprecedented achievement” as in “world record”. However, if you don’t know any Russian, you can’t understand this word, can you?

It’s totally shameless, barbaric racism against non-Russian speakers. The billboard is saying: ”I am written in Russian. What are you going to do about it, ignorant illogical American blogger?”

“It’s obvious that you don’t speak Russian”

At least he knows what the word “Реко́рд” means in Russian.

“Putin campaign to bribe Russian mothers into having more children is naked racism.”

Absolutely! How dare the President of Russia want Russia to stop population decline, and even put up posters with Tatar/Chechen/Karelian/Russian women on them!

“What other language in the world has two different words for its nationality like that? We can’t think of any.”

    In Britain/English. Also in Israel/Hebrew:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_nationality_law
In the Israeli birth certificate their nationality appears as “Jewish” (aka “Yehudi”, “Hebrew”), not as “Israeli”.

“Had Obama entered the Moscow subway without his entourage, it’s not likely he’d have come out alive to tell the tale. The subway is a meat grinder of racist violence.”

How many non-white people get murdered for their skin color in Moscow subway per year? In fact, how many people of any color get murdered in Moscow subway per year? Moscow’s subways are beautiful, clean and safe. Are you confusing Moscow with New York circa 1980s?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernhard_Goetz

Bernard Hugo Goetz is an American best known for shooting four young men who he said were intent on mugging him,[1][2][3][4] resulting in his conviction for illegal possession of a firearm. Goetz came to symbolize New Yorkers’ frustrations with the high crime rates of the mid 1980s. The incident occurred on the Seventh Avenue 2 express subway train in Manhattan on December 22, 1984… […] The incident. In the early afternoon of December 22, 1984, four young black men from The Bronx — Barry Allen, 19; Troy Canty, 19; James Ramseur, 18; and Darrell Cabey, 19 — boarded a downtown No. 2 express train apparently on a mission to steal money from video arcade machines in Manhattan… After the second solicitation for money, Goetz stood up, and drew a .38 Special five-shot Smith & Wesson revolver. Goetz fired five shots, striking each of the four men… In May 1985, Ramseur held the gun while an associate raped, sodomized and robbed a pregnant eighteen-year-old woman on the rooftop of the Bronx building where he lived.

“England, of course, subjugated a large part of the dark-skinned world and promulgated slavery.”

And so did the United States, your own country. But do we see you complain about racism in your own country?

“The chechens are also white europeans with light hair and light eyes”

    Exactly.

“Chechens look far more european than the Russians do.”

    Equally.

“This post is about RACISM, not about color. Hostility to color is ONLY ONE FORM of racism.”

So, if your outrage is not about this woman on the poster not having a dark skin color, then what is RACIST about this poster? Her dark hair? Her dark eyes? What hair and eye color do you demand that she have?

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

Thanks for proving, with your furious torrent of nonsense, Mr. Nashi Representative, how closely this post touched your heart and terrified you!

    • LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS: “Thanks for proving how closely this post touched your heart and terrified you!

It did indeed touch my heart very deeply. From childhood, I have had complete physical intolerance to lack of logic, demagoguery, injustice and unfairness. All unfair and illogical accusations, no matter who their victim is, hurt me.

I find it highly preposterous to claim that because the Russian language contains words of Latin origin like “record”, means that “Russians lack the initiative to invent their own words”. AFAIK, at least 95% of all English words, including the word “record” itself, are also of Latin, German, Greek or other foreign origin.

Given your constant barrage of posts pointing out that the Russian population is dying out, I also find it preposterous that a Russian ad with a dark-haired and dark-eyed woman in it, urging all its female readers to set fertility records, would be labeled as “racist”.

      LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

Thanks for not denying you are Nashi. Mind if we ask how much you’re being paid?

If you were a little better read, you’d know that Solzhenitsyn, who was decorated by Putin, REPEATEDLY criticized Russians for adopting Western phrases rather than inventing their own. In this context, the use of the word “record” is bizarre and CLEARLY subtext for racism. You have no evidence to the contrary, only frenzied illiterate gibberish. Instead of facing Russia’s problem with racism, you seek to conceal it. That’s shameful, and part of the problem.

It’s sad, boring and predictable to see Russians try to justify their own failure by pointing to what they see as failure by other nations. Does it really make you feel better to know that while Russia is destroying itself, so are other countries? If so, no wonder Russia is such a disaster!

Meanwhile, is the USA really the standard by which Russia is to be judged? Do you agree that since Russia doesn’t have competitive national elections with debates like America has, with transitions between rival parties, that the Putin regime is illegitimate? You can’t pick and choose when to compare Russia to America, idiot. Only a really stupid child (Nashi is a society of such people) tries stuff like that. Maybe you’ll grow up one day? Hope Russia lasts long enough for that to happen. Doubt it, though.

      • Thanks for not denying…

If you called me a Martian, I wouldn’t deny it either for some apparent reason ;-)

    • Thanks for not denying you are Nashi.

No problem. I didn’t think that you were serious. I have three young children, so I have learned to ignore childish insults.

Mind if we ask how much you’re being paid?

About 5% of what the KLA pays you. :-)

If you were a little better read, you’d know…

Thank you for an unwarranted low blow.

… that Solzhenitsyn, who was decorated by Putin, REPEATEDLY criticized Russians for adopting Western phrases rather than inventing their own.

Yes, the famous and prolific Soviet dissident Solzhenitsyn held a lot of dissident views, including the desire to minimize the use of foreign words. But even he constantly used words of foreign origin, as can be easily seen form the use of the Greek word “Archipelago” in the title of his most famous book. If you were a little better read, you’d know that Solzhenitsyn often used the word “рекорд” (“record”) in his writings. For example:

      http://libDOTru/PROZA/SOLZHENICYN/telenokDOTtxt
Так Чаадаев установил рекорд (Thus, Chaadaev set a new record)

      http://libDOTru/PROZA/SOLZHENICYN/gulag2DOTtxt
Доктор Усма знал 6-летнего мальчика, сидевшего в колонии по 58-й статье — уж это, очевидно, рекорд! (Dr. Usma knew a 6-year-old boy, who had been sentenced to a Gulag colony on article 58 – it’s clearly a record!

Solzhenitsyn, who was decorated by Putin, REPEATEDLY criticized Russians for adopting Western phrases rather than inventing their own. In this context, the use of the word “record” is bizarre and CLEARLY subtext for racism.

I fail to see the logic. Are you saying that the use of any words of foreign origin in a pro-birth poster is racist? If so – why?

Or that the use of this particular word “рекорд” (“record”) in a pro-birth poster is racist? If so – please explain why. Here is the translation of this word:

      http://dictionaryDOTreversoDOTnet/russian-english/%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B4/forced

      рекорд – record
      устанавливать/побить рекорд – to set/break a record

What is racist about setting/breaking records?

The poster says to all child-bearing age women of the Russian Federation, who happen to see this poster: “Cтране нужны ваши рекорды!”. “Your country needs you to set new records!“. In other words: “Your country needs you to set record-setting high birth rates”. What is racist about setting birth records?

  23. Stalin and Beria were bloody Georgians
Mikoyan — 100% Armenial (not so bloody)
    Kaganovich — 100% bloody Jew

  24. And of course, don’t forget Molotov, architect of Holodomor, who signed more death warrants than any other soviet leader (including Stalin).

The man who designed and presided over the Molotov Ribbentropt pact and alliance with Nazi Germany….

He was an ethnic Russian too…

  25. RV: “I thought it’s the Russian public’s job. When we got rid of the British in 1770’s, who do you think did it? Our ancestors did, because they wanted democratic rule, or at least what they understood as democratic then.”
    ******

You know it is not that difficult to give lessons using “our ancestors” (who lived and fought two hundred years ago) as an example. But what about YOU?

Majority of Russians who live NOW went through the revolution of 90s. Believe me it looks good in books but to live it through is not a pleasant thing. Maybe people just are a bit exhausted, OK?

    • For some strange reason, there is always an excuse and always an explanation why Russia is a barbaric country. It used to be oppression, and Tartar invasions, and then it was because of the Tsar, and then Lenin and Stalin came along, and now it’s because Russians are exhausted.

Well, nobody would make it better for them. Every country in the West has progressed over centuries, from terrible savagery to democracy. And it wasn’t easy for anybody anywhere.

Russia will progress too, but not before it has rid itself of her slave mentality and the culture of deceit, corruption, oppression of those who are weak, and alcoholism. Perhaps, Alex above was right, and Russia is still in middle ages, all superficial trappings of modernity notwithstanding

  27. It’s all very well the Russian authorities encouraging women to produce more children by way of a cash inducement, but why don’t they look after the children they already have?

There are nearly 300,000 children in Russia growing up in orphanages; their prospects for success in life are not very encouraging. According to the Russia’s Ministry of Education and Science, just one out of fifteen orphans will go on to become successful adults, while an overwhelming majority of the orphan population eventually gets hooked on drugs, goes to prison or even goes so far as to commit suicide.

“A child which grows up in an orphanage develops a basic distrust towards the adult world. They have been abandoned by the most important adults in their life – by their parents. And then they have to live with this feeling for the rest of their lives,” explains Aleksandra Kolmanovsky, psychologist.

I know all off the above mentioned are probably not Putin’s beloved “Slavic Russians” but they are citizens and deserve better,

  28. It’s very hard to find a blog posting this amount of crap, hatred and fascism. Very interesting how owner of blog called “La Russophobe” who thinks that “Russian language is bizarre and crude” accuses Putin of being racist. Your claim that “KGB killed more Russians than any foreign enemy” is not only stupid but is also very offending.

    • Well actually it was the NKVD that killed more Russians than any foreign enemy.

Obviously you are another example of the (so called) Russian education system…..

  29. The best description of the difference between русский and российский is that ‘русский’ это русские, а ‘российский’ это русские и вся остальная непиющая сволочь.

However, for a balanced look at Jewish involvement in the crimes of Lenin & Stalin, this is a good article…. “Genrikh Yagoda,” the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century… Yezhov was not Jewish but was blessed with an active Jewish wife.

Yagoda – Russian, Yhezov – Russian

    • Still, he was a Russian, no different to being a Catholic or Protestant, or Moslem in any civilised country.

      • Are you saying that this godless communist atheist Genrikh Yagoda belonged to the Jewish religion? Which synagogue did he go to?

        • Alexander Orlov, also Jewish by birth, attributed the following conversation to Yagoda during his last days at the Lubyanka prison before his execution. When asked by his interrogator if he believed in God, Yagoda replied, “From Stalin I deserved nothing but gratitude for my faithful service; from God I deserved the most severe punishment for having violated his commandments thousands of times. Now look where I am and judge for yourself: is there a God, or not…”

See “Yagoda in his Prison Cell,” in Alexander Orlov The Secret History of Stalin’s Crimes, Knopf, 1953

          • So, you accuse religious Jews like Yagoda of Stalin’s crimes?! Blaming the Jews again?

            • LOL very funny RTR.

            • Yes, your selectively and alternatively calling Yagoda “a Jew” and “a Russian” – depending on which group you intend to insult – is indeed a funny illustration of your demagoguery.

              • He was a Russian who also happened to be Jewish.
                He was born in Russia.

Or do you not allow Jews to be Russian.

You sir, are a typical Russian racist.

                • Andrew, very funny how you first claim one of Stalin’s henchmen like Yagoda were religious Jews and then accuse me of being a racist. And here is more stuff from your post about religious Jews:

Andrew wrote on March 9, 2010: “Many Jews sold their soul to the devil of the Communist revolution and have blood on their hands for eternity”

                      Stalin’s Jews

We mustn’t forget that some of greatest murderers of modern times were Jewish
                      Sever Plocker

Here’s a particularly forlorn historical date: Almost 90 years ago, between the 19th and 20th of December 1917, in the midst of the Bolshevik revolution and civil war, Lenin signed a decree calling for the establishment of The All-Russian Extraordinary Commission for Combating Counter-Revolution and Sabotage, also known as Cheka.

Within a short period of time, Cheka became the largest and cruelest state security organization. Its organizational structure was changed every few years, as were its names: From Cheka to GPU, later to NKVD, and later to KGB.

We cannot know with certainty the number of deaths Cheka was responsible for in its various manifestations, but the number is surely at least 20 million, including victims of the forced collectivization, the hunger, large purges, expulsions, banishments, executions, and mass death at Gulags.

Whole population strata were eliminated: Independent farmers, ethnic minorities, members of the bourgeoisie, senior officers, intellectuals, artists, labor movement activists, “opposition members” who were defined completely randomly, and countless members of the Communist party itself.

In his new, highly praised book “The War of the World, “Historian Niall Ferguson writes that no revolution in the history of mankind devoured its children with the same unrestrained appetite as did the Soviet revolution. In his book on the Stalinist purges, Tel Aviv University’s Dr. Igal Halfin writes that Stalinist violence was unique in that it was directed internally.

Lenin, Stalin, and their successors could not have carried out their deeds without wide-scale cooperation of disciplined “terror officials,” cruel interrogators, snitches, executioners, guards, judges, perverts, and many bleeding hearts who were members of the progressive Western Left and were deceived by the Soviet regime of horror and even provided it with a kosher certificate.

All these things are well-known to some extent or another, even though the former Soviet Union’s archives have not yet been fully opened to the public. But who knows about this? Within Russia itself, very few people have been brought to justice for their crimes in the NKVD’s and KGB’s service. The Russian public discourse today completely ignores the question of “How could it have happened to us?” As opposed to Eastern European nations, the Russians did not settle the score with their Stalinist past.

And us, the Jews? An Israeli student finishes high school without ever hearing the name “Genrikh Yagoda,” the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century, the GPU’s deputy commander and the founder and commander of the NKVD. Yagoda diligently implemented Stalin’s collectivization orders and is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 million people. His Jewish deputies established and managed the Gulag system. After Stalin no longer viewed him favorably, Yagoda was demoted and executed, and was replaced as chief hangman in 1936 by Yezhov, the “bloodthirsty dwarf.”

Yezhov was not Jewish but was blessed with an active Jewish wife. In his Book “Stalin: Court of the Red Star”, Jewish historian Sebag Montefiore writes that during the darkest period of terror, when the Communist killing machine worked in full force, Stalin was surrounded by beautiful, young Jewish women.

Stalin’s close associates and loyalists included member of the Central Committee and Politburo Lazar Kaganovich. Montefiore characterizes him as the “first Stalinist” and adds that those starving to death in Ukraine, an unparalleled tragedy in the history of human kind aside from the Nazi horrors and Mao’s terror in China, did not move Kaganovich.

Many Jews sold their soul to the devil of the Communist revolution and have blood on their hands for eternity. We’ll mention just one more: Leonid Reichman, head of the NKVD’s special department and the organization’s chief interrogator, who was a particularly cruel sadist.

In 1934, according to published statistics, 38.5 percent of those holding the most senior posts in the Soviet security apparatuses were of Jewish origin. They too, of course, were gradually eliminated in the next purges. In a fascinating lecture at a Tel Aviv University convention this week, Dr. Halfin described the waves of soviet terror as a “carnival of mass murder,” “fantasy of purges”, and “essianism of evil.” Turns out that Jews too, when they become captivated by messianic ideology, can become great murderers, among the greatest known by modern history.

The Jews active in official communist terror apparatuses (In the Soviet Union and abroad) and who at times led them, did not do this, obviously, as Jews, but rather, as Stalinists, communists, and “Soviet people.” Therefore, we find it easy to ignore their origin and “play dumb”: What do we have to do with them? But let’s not forget them. My own view is different. I find it unacceptable that a person will be considered a member of the Jewish people when he does great things, but not considered part of our people when he does amazingly despicable things.

Even if we deny it, we cannot escape the Jewishness of “our hangmen,” who served the Red Terror with loyalty and dedication from its establishment. After all, others will always remind us of their origin.

                    • Andrew, if you didn’t share the author’s opinions, why did you post them as part of your arguments and even prefaced: “However, for a balanced look at Jewish involvement in the crimes of Lenin & Stalin, this is a good article“?

If you disagree with this article, why do you call it “good” and “balanced”?

                    • Also, Andrew, why have you re-spammed this anti-Semitic article in its entirety once again?

Are you preoccupied with blaming Jews for Stalin’s and Beria’s crimes?

Or does dumping the same merde onto this blog over and over again give you extra pleasure?

                    • Really RTR, you are a moron.

The article was written by a Jewish journalist, for a Jewish publication.

Oh well, expecting rational discourse from a Russophile always was a dead end……

                • Most of what you are saying is a little confusing to me but I still find it very interesting and I want to learn much more. That was a really simple question asked by my teacher that I didn’t really know how to answer. This article has brought much enjoyment. My mind is just blown away by the great insights on your site. I can’t stop myself from reading your blogs. This article has some conflicting viewpoints when compared to the other websites I have read.

      • When the time comes to apply this data I will be sure to use this article in the list of sources. Your writing style reminds me of my best friend back in South Dakota. There’s one key difference though. Do you really believe this new trend will keep going for years to come?

  31. Who cares. These bastards were in charge. Leaders of Patriotic RaSSiyans, who today, still defend their activities, and keep monuments are all over the place, Even new ones emerging, to the Great Vozhd.

No history of democracy to keep the crazies and in check. Anyone that gathers enough power and intimidation can do whatever to these simple people who just want to eat, and get “wacked out”.

  32. <<…even when the word has a sound like “h” that doesn’t exist in Russian. So Russians just call it a “gahmboorgehr.” <<

This is because russians laugh at people pronouncing 'h' instead of pronouncing it as 'g' , because they consider those who actually say 'h' as ukrainians and byelorussians who associated in russia as an illiterate countryside people,
Actually , ukrainians and byelorussians can not pronounce 'G' sound properly, they use to say 'h'
    instead

Russians consider russian language finer than ukrainian or other slavic languages

Ukrainians can't prononce properly 'g', they say 'h' instead, the 'real russians' use to

  33. sorry type-errors in my previous post

170 milion russians are good enough

RTR, ''religious'' Jews in the ATHEIST ussr it's an oxymoron.
ALL bolsheviks were atheists..It means that in bolshevik propaganda there wasn't any 'jew' or 'christian' or 'russian'-
    but only two groups :
    Working class and Capitalists/ Bourgeousie
