The File on Victor Yanukovich
Victor Yanukovich, the new president of Ukraine, is a moron, a liar and a criminal.
He claims to have earned not just an MA in international law but also a PhD in economics, including writing a dissertation, while serving as the lieutenant governor and governor of Donetsk region. Just as Vladimir Putin openly plagiarized his dissertation in order to get an advanced degree, Yanukovich’s academic credentials are shamelessly bogus. Either that, of course, or else he simply was not doing his job as governor and spent all his time furiously studying.
He has an extensive record of convictions for thuglike violence as a youth.
He can’t spell the word “professor” and “he has confused poet Anna Akhmatova with his billionaire backer Rinat Akhmetov, the Jewish writer Isaac Babel with the German socialist August Bebel, Slovenia with Slovakia and genocide with genetics. He has called Russian playwright Anton Chekhov a Ukrainian poet and the Helsinki Treaty the Stockholm Treaty.”
But you won’t, of course, hear any of the Russophile scum railing against Yanukovich the way they do against Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili. Yanokovich may be a moron, liar and criminal but — they think — he’s their moron, liar and criminal. So it’s OK.
It came as a big surprise to them, then, to see Yanukovich decide to make his first state visit abroad not to Moscow but to Brussels, the home of the EU. They must have cringed in shock when he declared after arriving that improving relations with the EU was a “key priority” for his new government. He stated:
Our priorities will include integration into the European Union, bringing up constructive relations with the Russian Federation, and developing friendly relations with strategic partners such as the United States. For Ukraine, European integration is a key priority in our foreign policy, and this is also a key element in our strategy for the social and economic reforms we are going to carry out.
Ouch! He travels first to the EU, not Russia, and he calls Russia’s hated nemesis the USA a “strategic partner” with which Russia must have “friendly relations.” There is no bottle of antacid large enough to quite the Kremlin’s rumbly tummy after hearing this bone-chilling declaration.
If these are the words of a man the Russophiles consider one of their own, do you dare imagine what Ukraine’s Russophobes may be thinking now? How is it possible that in such a short time the Putin regime has so alienated Ukraine that even Yanukovich himself is repulsed, wary and looking for a new relationship?
How long will it be, we wonder, before the same Russophile scum who celebrated Yanukovich’s victory are the ones trumpeting his fundamentally corrupt and fraudulent resume and calling for his head?
Yanukovich is a weak leader, whose party holds just 38% of the seats in Parliament and which therefore cannot name a prime minister without forming a coalition with other deputies and becoming beholden to them. His resume is littered with embarrassing trash, and his powers are (unlike in Russia) strictly limited by the Constitution, meaning the prime minister is that much more crucial. And it’s clear he’s just as much interested in good relations with Europe as with Russia.
Great White Russian Hope? We think not.

I’ve been vindicated as I put pen to paper to say that Yanukovych is controlled by the rich businessmen of industrialized Eastern Ukraine like Rinat Akhmetov and et al. Who no doubt have taken very serious note of the way Fuhrer Putin treats his rich businessmen by sending them on a tax free junket to the Siberian ‘paradise’, with all expenses paid and at the same time their assets transferred (read confiscated) to V. Putin’s secret Funds Eternal Safekeeping account – or whatever words suit this ‘most corrupt vozd’.
Further more what Ukrainian President would want to play “second fiddle” to control freak Putin, when he can be the real boss of Ukraine.

Recall that Tymoshenko made even worse “misspeaks” than Yanukovych. For example, she confused Christmas and Easter and congratulated her audience on Christmas: “The Christ has been resurrected!”, which is an Easter saying.
It is more serious than that. The Pres in Ukraine picks the Governors just like in Rasha. He controls foreign policy, and is the commander in chief of the Armed Forces. This is dangerous since Roosha is investing heavily in Crimean Government, with armed forces and KGB already established waiting for a “Beachhead on Ukraine”. The damn border has never even been officially delineated thanks to Rooshan squabbling and obstruction where boundaries under water do not run in the middle etc. You know, like when they claim the North Pole.

The Schengen Zone is a problem, since this causes the buildup of illegal immigrants from Africa, China, Central Asia and anywhere else, to pile up in Ukraine, funneled in by Rashan Smugglers. Ukraine is forced by treaty with the EU to accept the return of these “surplus” illegal migrants.
The EU has it both ways while Roosha keeps hitting Ukraine, with migrants Ukraine has to accept when they do not make it into the EU.
Roosha of course refuses the return of these pathetic peoples. So things do not look good at all, and now we have a time bomb massing up next to the EU already in Europe.
Rooshans have not won yet, and their East is pushing inward on their natural resources. That is all they have left to trade with, now being removed to China. Maybe things will catch up to the decadent Moscovites in the Kremlin.
There is a video of Yanukovych voters prior to the presidential vote (I will provide the link if requested), who did not know his name, but they knew for whom they were voting – one voter went so far as to say his last name – “Party of Regions.” They were from the “rooshan East” of Ukraine.
Yakoonovych (one voter variation) appointed a guy named Lyovochkin as the head of his presidential secratariat. He is tied in with (wait for it) —— Dmytro Firtash!!, a Jewish oligarch in Ukraine of RosUkrEnergo fame.
If there is one thing that they (the collected oligarchs in Ukraine, Jewish and non-Jewish) have learned, having seen what happened to Berezovsky, a Jewish oligarch from roosha, now in Londongrad, under Putler, it is that they are better off not being under Putler’s rule.
However, the rooshans still try to destroy everything they can.
One focus is Crimea, which was inhabited by the descendants of Genghis Khan, yet the rooshans scream and claim it as their own.

LONDON — Fugitive Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky says the world’s key political event is currently taking place in Ukraine, not Iran, RFE/RL’s Russian Service reports.
Berezovsky told RFE/RL from London that he thinks “the West does not comprehend the importance” of the political situation in Ukraine, which he said is more complex than in Iran and the Middle East.
Berezovsky said that in addition to “Russia’s fortunes,” the “future of the values of Western civilization” is being decided in Ukraine.
He added that neither opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych nor Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will be able to solve Ukraine’s biggest problem — bridging the division between the pro-Russian, mostly eastern part of the country with the pro-European mainly western part. The two are in “severe confrontation,” Berezovsky said.
Berezovsky said “one part of [Ukrainian] society is rushing toward civilization, and the other is pulling back toward barbarism.”
He also accused both outgoing President Viktor Yushchenko and Tymoshenko of responsibility for the the fact that the 2004 Orange Revolution did not live up to people’s expectations.
Berezovsky added that Yushchenko will be regarded by history as the “great reformer” but also as the person who did not take advantage of the enormous amount of trust Ukrainians placed in him after the Orange Revolution. He said Yushchenko’s main weakness is that he is not a politician but “an ideologue.”
Berezovsky said he no business interests in Ukraine, only political interests. With Russia, he said his interest is to do everything possible to help it “become a civilized country.”
Berezovksy said that although the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election on February 7 marks a choice “between two great evils,” he would prefer to see Tymoshenko as president.
Despite that, Berezovsky said he is optimistic about the general situation and thinks “those who want a civilized future for Ukraine” will eventually prevail…
Yanukovich may be a Russophile, a former criminal, and maybe not the brightest person in Ukraine, but let’s cut him some slack. He was clearly a better choice than the (equally Russophile, but also rabidly nationalistic) “gas princess”. Yanukovich has explicitly stated that his goal is European integration, which is a good thing, it means Ukraine could have good relations with all its neighbours (as opposed to Yushchenko and Timoshenko’s policy of offending and provoking all neighbours, east and west). In his campaign, he also promised to grant long-overdue linguistic and cultural rights to ethnic minorities, in accordance with treaties signed by Ukraine more than a decade ago. Because of this, he was voted not only by the Russian minority, but also by the Hungarian and Romanian minorities in Ukraine.
So compared to the lunatic and corrupt Timoshenko, and her suicidal nationalism, Yanukovich seems like the more palatable candidate, with all his baggage. It’s better to have on Europe’s doorstep a stable and (more or less) democratic Ukraine, rather than a country whipped up in an ultra-nationalistic frenzy and bent on defying international law and “Ukrainianizing” its minorities.

Nationalism means an independence movement (from Rooshans or Whomever comes to exploit Ukraine’s People, people whom cannot unite easily, thus preventing damage to language and culture from those seeking to destroy them, for their own purposes, i. e. seeking to separate the peoples, such as in this case the East and West by language then by tanks.
Lose language and you lose national memory. Ukrainian Language has been forbidden other then “belles letters” for hundreds of years and it has survived. Romanians have been really nasty Fascists when they invaded with the Nazis doing more ethnic cleansing.
Whomever encroached on Ukraine’s territory has tried by various means including murder to “Polakify” as during “passifikatsia”, Russify, Romanianize or whatever by killing priests teachers and artists.
Now Ukraine is independent, has cultural values, and somewhat restored elections, so that it can survive in Europe as a modern state.
Colonizing murdering Rooshan Bolshevik descendants are now more uncomfortable and understandably so. RoSSiyskies should not find a problem though, and still prefer living in Ukraine. Real Slavs can figure each others language out without problems. That is most Slavs that don’t have an agenda.
Demanding RooSSiyski Yazik as in this case is insulting. More than 60% of Ukrainian educational budget is in RooSSiyky Yazik Language. It is the Ukraine’s Language that is in danger. Another so called issue created by Russofiles in the Kremlin.
Why should Ukrainians have to learn a third Language? Rashans can just learn additional English in school. Screw them and you @A. Your and your ilk already drank enough Ukrainian Blood since the Turko/Mongol invasions and alliances with the Nazis.
Israeli’s are not threatened either, since they already approved a Visa arrangement with Ukraine, something that has yet to be with the EU. I find many Jews also interested in our Folk Traditions especially religious. We overcome politics in day to day relations. Healing the conflicts that Rooskies exploit constantly takes work while restoring a nation.
But with Neo Bolsheviks on the porous border and locked in the Schengen Zone by the EU, who knows what will happen. Yanukovych may be just the beginning of worse to come for all.

I repeat the same question I asked on another thread, when was Romania “fascist”? And when did it occupy any Ukrainian land? It is Ukraine that benefitted from the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and continues to occupy Romanian territory (that’s Ukrainian gratitude to one of the few countries that recognized the Ukrainian People’s Republic and always treated its Ukrainian minority well). And it is the Ukrainians who deported, murdered and tried to assimilate the autochtonous population of the territories given to you by Stalin (more Ukrainian gratitude).
But going into WWII/Soviet Union history is not my point. I was talking strictly about minority rights, which in any civilized country are taken for granted. Ukraine has also signed treaties on this issue, but has failed to keep its commitments. Compare minority rights in Romania and Ukraine. For instance, if I went to visit, let’s say, Cernauti, Ismail or Cetatea Alba, will I see bilingual signs? Will I be able to communicate with the authorities in Romanian? If I got in trouble with the law, would I be able to use Romanian in court? If I wanted to go back to school, will I find a Romanian university in Ukraine? Yes, ethnic minorities in Romania can do all those things, and that’s normal for a civilized and democratic country.
So I don’t care about your pathological xenophobia, and I don’t care whether Yanukovic is “Ukrainian” enough, if he keeps his word and follows through with Ukraine’s human rights commitments, and has a sane and non-aggressive foreign policy, then he’ll earn the respect of both regular Ukrainians and their neighbours.

Ukrs were a separate race with an Aryan alphabet from Tibet, which had 3 letters: ‘G’, “H’ and “GH”. Ukrainians are the direct brothers of the peoples of AfGHanistan and DaGHestan, who also have this superior “GH” sound.

Maybe you can clarify for the readers the “G” thing situation.
Th 4th letter in the Cyrillic alphabet is “Г”. This letter is in Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian and other Slavic languages is pronounced like the Latin letter “G”. But in Ukrainian, this letter “Г” is pronounced “GH” like in “Afghanistan” and “Daghestan”.
But to make things more complicated, the Ukrainian patriots like yourself insist that this letter “Г” and its accompanying sound “GH” be transliterated in English as “H”.
OK. Then tell the readers what letter in the Ukrainian alphabet denotes the pure “G” sound, as in “god” or “dog” or “goat”?
And what about the Cyrillic letter “Х” that comes between “Ф” and “Ц”? How is it transliterated into Latin alphabet?
I know the answer but I want to see you try to explain the difference between “Г” and “Ґ”. These are different letters, aren’t they? Then why do they look so much alike?

Firstly Arthur, it is only fair to say that I am not a professor in the Ukrainian alphabet, like I am not a professor in the English alphabet. As I had nothing to do with the creation of either.
However I do use both as was taught to me as a pupil in the respective schools when I attended them.
Ukrainian:-
1. The fourth letter of the alphabet is “Г” and it is pronounced as ‘He’, and as an example is used in the word “гeрoй” – i.e. hero in English. This I hope answers your 2nd paragraph as IT IS NOT “pronounced “GH” like in “Afghanistan” and “Daghestan” “, in the Ukrainian language.
2. The fifth letter of the alphabet is “Ґ” and it is pronounced as ‘Ge’ and as an example is used in the word “ґазета” – i.e. gazette, or for that matter “God, dog or goat” in English. This I hope answers your 4th Paragraph.
So that the only difference between the two letters is that the little vertical bar on the far right of the horizontal bar goes DOWNwards vertically in the letter ‘h’ and UPwards in the letter ‘g’.
3. The letter “Х” is the 26th in the alphabet and it is pronounced as ‘Kh’ in English as there is no exact sound that corresponds to it in the English language. The best known example of its use was by “Нікіта Хрущов”. Or as you knew him in its equivalent English spelling ‘Nikita Khrushev’, the First Secretary of the USSR who was deposed by Leonid Brezhnev at a later stage. This letter is also commonly used as in the word “хліб” or ‘bread’ in English.
Now having said that and in all fairness to the Ukrainian, or for that matter the Russian, pronunciation of the letter “X” it does not even come anywhere near to the letter ‘K’ in the English sounds uttered when reciting their alphabet. My best suggestion is to approach any Ukrainian that you can and show him N. K.s cyrillic name and ask him to pronounce it.

As to your last sentence, no I’m not saying that the “Russians never had glottal fricative /ɦ/? Why is this so bad” – as firstly the letter “X” belongs to that class, and secondly I don’t think it bad as I don’t have an opinion on it which bothers me, I use it/them because of the nature of the Ukrainian language and thirdly why is it so bad? Again I don’t have an opinion on that one, but as an after thought I can only add that it is hard, for example, on an Englishman to pronounce when he has never in his life used that sound and he has to learn to pronounce it, especially so if he is trying to learn another language.

And when you want to visit USA, you are required to obtain a visa too; and many average Russians, Ukrainians and Romanians are denied such visas.
True, visa reciprocity seems fair in theory, but in realistic terms it doesn’t really work that way. For example, an American can go to Mexico without a visa, but it doesn’t work the other way round. Mexico could require reciprocity, but then they’d lose a lot of tourists etc. So in practical terms, it makes more sense for Russia to lift its visa system and benefit from an increased flow of European tourists than to stay isolated.

Justifying Ukrainian expansionism by linking the modern state of Ukraine with a loose, multi-national, Viking-led state from the Dark Ages is laughable. But at least this time you stopped at the Vikings, rather than go all the way to the mammoths. By your logic, Romania would be entitled not only to large swathes of what is now Ukraine, but also most of Hungary, Slovakia, Northern Serbia etc because they used to be part of the ancient kingdom of Dacia. So while parts of what is now Northern Bucovina MIGHT have BRIEFLY been annexed by some tribe or other prior to the 14th century, throughout ALL recorded history up until 1940, all of Bucovina was Romanian territory, first as part of the independent principality of Moldavia, then the Austrian empire (with Romanian and German as the official languages, and the Romanian nobility as the dominant force in regional politics), and then Romania. And I remind you once again, not even the Soviets could think of any historical claim to Bucovina, so they justified its annexion as “reparation” for Bassarabia’s union with Romania in 1918. I also remind you that at least 60-70% of the current population of Cernauti is formed of Soviet-era immigrants; prior to 1940, the dominant ethnic groups were Jews, Romanians and Gemans.

I think any nationalism is crazy and, at its core, hatred based. In this sense nationalism is worse than imperialism, at least as it was practised by the continental empires and even the Ottomans. – What is now called Bucovina belonged to Moldavia (1348-1775), Austria (1775-1918) and Romania (1918-1940). Ukraine doesn’t figure on the list, since there was no Ukraine before 1919.
– When Austria occupied Bucovina, there were basically no Ukrainians (1775 census – 85% Romanians, the rest Poles, Hutsuls etc). Large numbers of Ruthenians were colonized by the Austrians in the 19th century. The immigrants never formed a majority and at the time considered themselves Ruthenians, not Ukrainians.
– Northern Bucovina, Hertza, Hotin and Southern Bessarabia were awareded by Stalin and Khrushchev to Ukraine.

Damien, I understand what you’re saying. However, I have no “bias against Ukraine”, quite the contrary. As you pointed out, Romanians, Ukrainians and Poles should normally be natural allies. A Poland-Romania-Ukraine alliance within the EU and NATO would alter the status quo in both organizations. Poland, Romania and Ukraine (UPR) were natural allies in 1919-20 as well, but unfortunately the Poles betrayed the Ukrainians, and the Romanians didn’t do much either to help the UPR survive as an independent state (which would have been in our interest as well).
That being said, you can’t expect Ukraine to join either the EU or NATO if it’s run by politicians who make provocative public remarks about their neighbors, rehabilitate war criminals, and have no respect for the basic rights of ethnic minorities. Why do you think that within just a few years, the Romanian minority (not the most Russophile of people, especially in Bucovina) and the Hungarians (not very Russophile either) switched from orange to Yanukovich? The same Yanukovich who had previously been known for anti-Romanian comments?
An Ukrainian patriot, as opposed to a rabid nationalist, would realize that Ukraine can’t function as a state if it antagonizes everybody, and it’s in Ukraine’s best interests to move towards EU integration. And you realize that xenophobia and disregard for minority rights won’t help with that. And yeah, that includes the rights of Russians as well. You can’t accuse Romania of being on buddy terms with Russia, but ethnic Russians (and Ukrainians as well) do have the right to study in their own language, to use their language in administration and the judiciary etc. What’s wrong with that?

It is amazing how you and other Ukes from Australia and Canada hate the foreign immigrants that come to Ukraine, and yet make angry speeches that Russian nationalists hate foreign immigrants. Hypocrites. You hate immigrants more than the worst Russian nationalists do.
Right now, because Russia is a much more advanced and prosperous country, Russia is flooded with millions of immigrants from the south: Central Asia, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine. In fact, afik, immigrants from Ukraine are the most numerous.
So, Ukraine gets few immigrants. But as Russia is beginning to turn some immigrants away, more and more will come to Ukraine, especially now that Ukraine has a sane president. So, soon Ukrainians will see more and more immigrants from the south.
