The File on Victor Yanukovich

Victor Yanukovich, the new president of Ukraine, is a moron, a liar and a criminal.

He claims to have earned not just an MA in international law but also a PhD in economics, including writing a dissertation, while serving as the lieutenant governor and governor of Donetsk region.  Just as Vladimir Putin openly plagiarized his dissertation in order to get an advanced degree, Yanukovich’s academic credentials are shamelessly bogus.  Either that, of course, or else he simply was not doing his job as governor and spent all his time furiously studying.

He has an extensive record of convictions for thuglike violence as a youth.

He can’t spell the word “professor” and “he has confused poet Anna Akhmatova with his billionaire backer Rinat Akhmetov, the Jewish writer Isaac Babel with the German socialist August Bebel, Slovenia with Slovakia and genocide with genetics. He has called Russian playwright Anton Chekhov a Ukrainian poet and the Helsinki Treaty the Stockholm Treaty.”

But you won’t, of course, hear any of the Russophile scum railing against Yanukovich the way they do against Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili.  Yanokovich may be a moron, liar and criminal but — they think — he’s their moron, liar and criminal.  So it’s OK.

It came as a big surprise to them, then, to see Yanukovich decide to make his first state visit abroad not to Moscow but to Brussels, the home of the EU.  They must have cringed in shock when he declared after arriving that improving relations with the EU was a “key priority” for his new government.  He stated:

Our priorities will include integration into the European Union, bringing up constructive relations with the Russian Federation, and developing friendly relations with strategic partners such as the United States.  For Ukraine, European integration is a key priority in our foreign policy, and this is also a key element in our strategy for the social and economic reforms we are going to carry out.

Ouch! He travels first to the EU, not Russia, and he calls Russia’s hated nemesis the USA a “strategic partner” with which Russia must have “friendly relations.”  There is no bottle of antacid large enough to quite the Kremlin’s rumbly tummy after hearing this bone-chilling declaration.

If these are the words of a man the Russophiles consider one of their own, do you dare imagine what Ukraine’s Russophobes may be thinking now?  How is it possible that in such a short time the Putin regime has so alienated Ukraine that even Yanukovich himself is repulsed, wary and looking for a new relationship?

How long will it be, we wonder, before the same Russophile scum who celebrated Yanukovich’s victory are the ones trumpeting his fundamentally corrupt and fraudulent resume and calling for his head?

Yanukovich is a weak leader, whose party holds just 38% of the seats in Parliament and which therefore cannot name a prime minister without forming a coalition with other deputies and becoming beholden to them.  His resume is littered with embarrassing trash, and his powers are (unlike in Russia) strictly limited by the Constitution, meaning the prime minister is that much more crucial.  And it’s clear he’s just as much interested in good relations with Europe as with Russia.

Great White Russian Hope? We think not.

  1. Will this put the lying Russophile scum in their place!!! I just cannot wait to read their replies. That is if there is any forthcoming? Which I doubt very much as, to what plausible excuse can they come up with.

I’ve been vindicated as I put pen to paper to say that Yanukovych is controlled by the rich businessmen of industrialized Eastern Ukraine like Rinat Akhmetov and et al. Who no doubt have taken very serious note of the way Fuhrer Putin treats his rich businessmen by sending them on a tax free junket to the Siberian ‘paradise’, with all expenses paid and at the same time their assets transferred (read confiscated) to V. Putin’s secret Funds Eternal Safekeeping account – or whatever words suit this ‘most corrupt vozd’.

Further more what Ukrainian President would want to play “second fiddle” to control freak Putin, when he can be the real boss of Ukraine.

  2. “He can’t spell the word “professor” and “he has confused poet Anna Akhmatova with his billionaire backer Rinat Akhmetov…”

Well, George W. Bush also could’t spell many, many (even simpler) words and confused much more things than Yanukovich but he was the US president two terms. Americans are very similar to Ukrainians in choosing such leaders.

Yanukovich, with all his problems, is much better than Timoshenko who is a real pathological liar, populist, and criminal. Most important, with Yanukovich the orange time in Ukraine is over.

    LA RUSSOPHOBE RESPONDS:

Um, Gregor you seem to be a bit out of it. Americans HATED Bush, he had the lowest poll numbers of any president in history, and he was just chucked out of office along with his party. Now that you know, we assume you agree the same should happen to Yanukovich, just as we’ve called for. Thanks for your support!

    • Gregor,

Recall that Tymoshenko made even worse “misspeaks” than Yanukovych. For example, she confused Christmas and Easter and congratulated her audience on Christmas: “The Christ has been resurrected!”, which is an Easter saying.

  3. It is more serious than that. The Pres in Ukraine picks the Governors just like in Rasha. He controls foreign policy, and is the commander in chief of the Armed Forces. This is dangerous since Roosha is investing heavily in Crimean Government, with armed forces and KGB already established waiting for a “Beachhead on Ukraine”. The damn border has never even been officially delineated thanks to Rooshan squabbling and obstruction where boundaries under water do not run in the middle etc. You know, like when they claim the North Pole.

This can be the worst disaster Ukraine faces since the Unification of the Mongols and the Turks, now in Europe’s backyard with RuSSophile Scum in Charge.

Thse United Rasha Party in the Duma already passed laws authorizing using armed forces abroad with asssasinations. Rooshan Duma passed a resolution that Crimea belongs to Rasha back in 93. Yanukowich and his political handler Bitch, the obnoxius and talkative Hanna German may start paying lip service to Ukrainian Nationalists in the beginning but not fooling anyone. Hate speaches in the past of Regions Party are already an indication.

The Nationalists are really the only ones that care about the country’s independence and its people. Nationalism of course is a dirty word to the Commies, One Worlders, Rooskies and enemies of Ukraine all over the world and you know who you are. Rada Ministers are already lining up to see what offices and perks are available regardless of Party Affiliation since these were just bought. Some righteous politicians already declared opposition but the rest are really “Scab Pickers” abusing Ukraine, to the point of always speaking a filthy slanged RooSSiyski language in Public Office just to show utter contempt for Ukrainian People and their culture.

The Europeans have used coquetry in dealing with Ukraine “maybe yes and maybe no” policy. Establishing the Schengen Zone really put up another Iron Curtain. I can see why people are not too interested in NATO just to fight in Afghanistan again for the EU, since they are not good enough for anything else but clever talk. The RooSSiykies play this up and control the media.

Even Yanukovich could switch sides if his loyal buffoons start abusing him more for not being tough enough on the Real Ukrainian Population. Already he may be realizing that he is the President of the largest country in the Center of Europe and demand respect but this could be too much to ask for from someone of his background. But you never know. Taras Shevchenko was a serf. Things don’t look good for Europe either, comparable to the Joining of the Mongols and the Turks before the Black Plague decimated Europe.

  4. The Orange Ideals are not over, just the Politicians.

  5. The Schengen Zone is a problem, since this causes the buildup of illegal immigrants from Africa, China, Central Asia and anywhere else, to pile up in Ukraine, funneled in by Rashan Smugglers. Ukraine is forced by treaty with the EU to accept the return of these “surplus” illegal migrants.

The EU has it both ways while Roosha keeps hitting Ukraine, with migrants Ukraine has to accept when they do not make it into the EU.

Roosha of course refuses the return of these pathetic peoples. So things do not look good at all, and now we have a time bomb massing up next to the EU already in Europe.

Rooshans have not won yet, and their East is pushing inward on their natural resources. That is all they have left to trade with, now being removed to China. Maybe things will catch up to the decadent Moscovites in the Kremlin.

  6. There is a video of Yanukovych voters prior to the presidential vote (I will provide the link if requested), who did not know his name, but they knew for whom they were voting – one voter went so far as to say his last name – “Party of Regions.” They were from the “rooshan East” of Ukraine.

Yakoonovych (one voter variation) appointed a guy named Lyovochkin as the head of his presidential secratariat. He is tied in with (wait for it) —— Dmytro Firtash!!, a Jewish oligarch in Ukraine of RosUkrEnergo fame.

If there is one thing that they (the collected oligarchs in Ukraine, Jewish and non-Jewish) have learned, having seen what happened to Berezovsky, a Jewish oligarch from roosha, now in Londongrad, under Putler, it is that they are better off not being under Putler’s rule.

However, the rooshans still try to destroy everything they can.

One focus is Crimea, which was inhabited by the descendants of Genghis Khan, yet the rooshans scream and claim it as their own.

Here’s a link to roosha’s efforts to grab Crimea:

Ain’t it a shame how Jews are allowed to have ties with Ukrainian officials? Where are the russophobic and judophobic Nazis like you when you need them?

  7. From the “Horses Mouth”

    January 25, 2010
LONDON — Fugitive Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky says the world’s key political event is currently taking place in Ukraine, not Iran, RFE/RL’s Russian Service reports.

Berezovsky told RFE/RL from London that he thinks “the West does not comprehend the importance” of the political situation in Ukraine, which he said is more complex than in Iran and the Middle East.

Berezovsky said that in addition to “Russia’s fortunes,” the “future of the values of Western civilization” is being decided in Ukraine.

He added that neither opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych nor Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will be able to solve Ukraine’s biggest problem — bridging the division between the pro-Russian, mostly eastern part of the country with the pro-European mainly western part. The two are in “severe confrontation,” Berezovsky said.

Berezovsky said “one part of [Ukrainian] society is rushing toward civilization, and the other is pulling back toward barbarism.”

He also accused both outgoing President Viktor Yushchenko and Tymoshenko of responsibility for the the fact that the 2004 Orange Revolution did not live up to people’s expectations.

Berezovsky added that Yushchenko will be regarded by history as the “great reformer” but also as the person who did not take advantage of the enormous amount of trust Ukrainians placed in him after the Orange Revolution. He said Yushchenko’s main weakness is that he is not a politician but “an ideologue.”

Berezovsky said he no business interests in Ukraine, only political interests. With Russia, he said his interest is to do everything possible to help it “become a civilized country.”

Berezovksy said that although the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election on February 7 marks a choice “between two great evils,” he would prefer to see Tymoshenko as president.

Despite that, Berezovsky said he is optimistic about the general situation and thinks “those who want a civilized future for Ukraine” will eventually prevail…

  8. Yanukovich may be a Russophile, a former criminal, and maybe not the brightest person in Ukraine, but let’s cut him some slack. He was clearly a better choice than the (equally Russophile, but also rabidly nationalistic) “gas princess”. Yanukovich has explicitly stated that his goal is European integration, which is a good thing, it means Ukraine could have good relations with all its neighbours (as opposed to Yushchenko and Timoshenko’s policy of offending and provoking all neighbours, east and west). In his campaign, he also promised to grant long-overdue linguistic and cultural rights to ethnic minorities, in accordance with treaties signed by Ukraine more than a decade ago. Because of this, he was voted not only by the Russian minority, but also by the Hungarian and Romanian minorities in Ukraine.

So compared to the lunatic and corrupt Timoshenko, and her suicidal nationalism, Yanukovich seems like the more palatable candidate, with all his baggage. It’s better to have on Europe’s doorstep a stable and (more or less) democratic Ukraine, rather than a country whipped up in an ultra-nationalistic frenzy and bent on defying international law and “Ukrainianizing” its minorities.

  9. @A. Why don’t you STFU you are not needed to discuss Ukraine. This is not up to your level as you are just a vile person, exploiting wounds. Are you also going to mention Yulia Timoshenko’s Jewish Background?

Nationalism means an independence movement (from Rooshans or Whomever comes to exploit Ukraine’s People, people whom cannot unite easily, thus preventing damage to language and culture from those seeking to destroy them, for their own purposes, i. e. seeking to separate the peoples, such as in this case the East and West by language then by tanks.

Lose language and you lose national memory. Ukrainian Language has been forbidden other then “belles letters” for hundreds of years and it has survived. Romanians have been really nasty Fascists when they invaded with the Nazis doing more ethnic cleansing.

Whomever encroached on Ukraine’s territory has tried by various means including murder to “Polakify” as during “passifikatsia”, Russify, Romanianize or whatever by killing priests teachers and artists.

Now Ukraine is independent, has cultural values, and somewhat restored elections, so that it can survive in Europe as a modern state.

Colonizing murdering Rooshan Bolshevik descendants are now more uncomfortable and understandably so. RoSSiyskies should not find a problem though, and still prefer living in Ukraine. Real Slavs can figure each others language out without problems. That is most Slavs that don’t have an agenda.

Demanding RooSSiyski Yazik as in this case is insulting. More than 60% of Ukrainian educational budget is in RooSSiyky Yazik Language. It is the Ukraine’s Language that is in danger. Another so called issue created by Russofiles in the Kremlin.

Why should Ukrainians have to learn a third Language? Rashans can just learn additional English in school. Screw them and you @A. Your and your ilk already drank enough Ukrainian Blood since the Turko/Mongol invasions and alliances with the Nazis.

Israeli’s are not threatened either, since they already approved a Visa arrangement with Ukraine, something that has yet to be with the EU. I find many Jews also interested in our Folk Traditions especially religious. We overcome politics in day to day relations. Healing the conflicts that Rooskies exploit constantly takes work while restoring a nation.

But with Neo Bolsheviks on the porous border and locked in the Schengen Zone by the EU, who knows what will happen. Yanukovych may be just the beginning of worse to come for all.

  10. Georg, it’s funny that you hate Russians so much, yet you are more brainwashed with Stalinist propaganda than the Russians themselves. You make the likes of Arthur look like geniuses in comparison. I repeat the same question I asked on another thread, when was Romania “fascist”? And when did it occupy any Ukrainian land? It is Ukraine that benefitted from the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and continues to occupy Romanian territory (that’s Ukrainian gratitude to one of the few countries that recognized the Ukrainian People’s Republic and always treated its Ukrainian minority well). And it is the Ukrainians who deported, murdered and tried to assimilate the autochtonous population of the territories given to you by Stalin (more Ukrainian gratitude).

But going into WWII/Soviet Union history is not my point. I was talking strictly about minority rights, which in any civilized country are taken for granted. Ukraine has also signed treaties on this issue, but has failed to keep its commitments. Compare minority rights in Romania and Ukraine. For instance, if I went to visit, let’s say, Cernauti, Ismail or Cetatea Alba, will I see bilingual signs? Will I be able to communicate with the authorities in Romanian? If I got in trouble with the law, would I be able to use Romanian in court? If I wanted to go back to school, will I find a Romanian university in Ukraine? Yes, ethnic minorities in Romania can do all those things, and that’s normal for a civilized and democratic country.

So I don’t care about your pathological xenophobia, and I don’t care whether Yanukovic is “Ukrainian” enough, if he keeps his word and follows through with Ukraine’s human rights commitments, and has a sane and non-aggressive foreign policy, then he’ll earn the respect of both regular Ukrainians and their neighbours.

  11. One more thing, “Georg” – shouldn’t your name be Heorh? I thought you didn’t have Gs in Ukrainian. I wonder how you pronounce Gauguin, Gogol or Gargantua. Or Gore Vidal :)

    • A. Probably you are blind as well as stupid.

The Ukrainian language always had a “G” but the Rooshan Occupiers made it illegal. Just as Rooskies never had an “H” they decided to outlaw Ukrainian’s letter “G” for spite. Part of the same reasoning process only you as a rooskie would understand. So you are mistaken again and are a lying pathological fool.

    • A. Probably you are blind.

The Ukrainian language always had a “G” but You Rooshan Occupiers made it illegal. Just as Rooskies never had an “H” they decided to outlaw Ukrainian’s letter “G” for spite. Part of the same reasoning process only you a raSSisykie would understand. So you are mistaken again and are a lying pathological fool.

      • What about “X”? Not good enough for Yackrainian nazis?

        • AT would you like to elaborate on this quote of yours “What about “X”?” you YackyRuSSian fascista?

      • In fact, before the Rooshan and other Slavic Occupiers came, Ukraine had it sown unique alphabet and language, which had nothing to do with Slavic people. Ukrs were a separate race with an Aryan alphabet from Tibet, which had 3 letters: ‘G’, “H’ and “GH”. Ukrainians are the direct brothers of the peoples of AfGHanistan and DaGHestan, who also have this superior “GH” sound.

        • Somebody explain to me the G / H thing, I didn’t really get it from Georg/Heorh’s explanation. So Russians have Gs, but no Hs, yet they banned Ukrainians from using Gs, and forced them to use Hs instead? And how would they enforce it? Were there KGB spies all around, just waiting to pounce on anyone uttering the dreaded G, and send them to the Gulag? (oops, Hulah)

          • oh, and how would you say “original gangsta” without the G-police coming a-knocking?

          • A – you answered most of your own questions. Except of course where you tried to be funny and only made an utter fool of yourself!

Take a well meaning hint and don’t try comedy as a career. In that field you are an abject failure!

Now in simple English (for a true simpleton). In WWII the German’s nation and especially so the German soldiers laughed at the untermensh soviet communist Russians as that nation – not having the letter ‘G’ in their alphabet – could only pronounce Hitler’s name incorrectly – as ‘GITLER’. Now what’s so hard about that simpleton? Got that or do you suffer with some sort of brain damage?

Also the Ukrainian alphabet does have the letters ‘G’ and ‘H’, BUT NOT THE RUSSIFIED, Ukrainian alphabet. Now what’s so hard about that simpleton? Got that or do you suffer with some sort of brain damage?

Furthermore chum, it was recognized that under Soviet Communism every third comrade – as there were no citizens – was a stool pigeon for the NKVD police state. Hence the NKVD could ferret out any ‘enemies of the state’ at short notice.

Finally, your attempt at humor is so pathetic, that it borders on the abysmal. Do yourself (and the great majority of sane La Russophobe users) a favor and stick to your Romanian papers as you should be a moral certainty there at least. LOL.

PS I never thought that I would ever appreciate Arthur’s handiwork, but his comments as to Romanian atrocities in WWII exposed your blatant lies about your beloved fascist ally to Nazi Germany and the other blatant lies that you made up about Ukraine’s participation in these atrocities under Romanian military control. LOL. Yes Sir – once a lier always a lier!

            • Apology that typo error in the wording “not having the letter ‘G’ in their alphabet” should actually read “not having the letter ‘H’ in their alphabet.

            • Г
              Х
              Bohdan,

Maybe you can clarify for the readers the “G” thing situation.

Th 4th letter in the Cyrillic alphabet is “Г”. This letter is in Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian and other Slavic languages is pronounced like the Latin letter “G”. But in Ukrainian, this letter “Г” is pronounced “GH” like in “Afghanistan” and “Daghestan”.

But to make things more complicated, the Ukrainian patriots like yourself insist that this letter “Г” and its accompanying sound “GH” be transliterated in English as “H”.

OK. Then tell the readers what letter in the Ukrainian alphabet denotes the pure “G” sound, as in “god” or “dog” or “goat”?

And what about the Cyrillic letter “Х” that comes between “Ф” and “Ц”? How is it transliterated into Latin alphabet?

I know the answer but I want to see you try to explain the difference between “Г” and “Ґ”. These are different letters, aren’t they? Then why do they look so much alike?

To show how confusing to Westerners the whole method is, let me quote the Wikipedia:

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_alphabet

              The Ukrainian alphabet

              Twenty letters represent consonants (б, г, ґ, д, ж, з, к, л, м, н, п, р, с, т, ф, х, ц, ч, ш, щ)

Unique letters are ge (ґ)—used for the less-common velar plosive /ɡ/ sound, since in Ukrainian the common Slavic г represents a glottal fricative /ɦ/
              ………………….

              So, when you say:

[Just as Rooskies never had an “H” they decided to outlaw Ukrainian’s letter “G” for spite. ]

Aren’t you saying that the Russians never had glottal fricative /ɦ/? Why is this so bad? Do English, French, Italian or Gemran have this “glottal fricative /ɦ/”? Are you a big fan of glottal fricatives?

              • Gotta love glottal fricatives. Is the “gh” sound kinda like the sound you make before you spit? Ukrainian must be a lovely language.

              • Firstly Arthur, it is only fair to say that I am not a professor in the Ukrainian alphabet, like I am not a professor in the English alphabet. As I had nothing to do with the creation of either.

However I do use both as was taught to me as a pupil in the respective schools when I attended them.

                Ukrainian:-
                1. The fourth letter of the alphabet is “Г” and it is pronounced as ‘He’, and as an example is used in the word “гeрoй” – i.e. hero in English. This I hope answers your 2nd paragraph as IT IS NOT “pronounced “GH” like in “Afghanistan” and “Daghestan” “, in the Ukrainian language.

                2. The fifth letter of the alphabet is “Ґ” and it is pronounced as ‘Ge’ and as an example is used in the word “ґазета” – i.e. gazette, or for that matter “God, dog or goat” in English. This I hope answers your 4th Paragraph.

So that the only difference between the two letters is that the little vertical bar on the far right of the horizontal bar goes DOWNwards vertically in the letter ‘h’ and UPwards in the letter ‘g’.

                3. The letter “Х” is the 26th in the alphabet and it is pronounced as ‘Kh’ in English as there is no exact sound that corresponds to it in the English language. The best known example of its use was by “Нікіта Хрущов”. Or as you knew him in its equivalent English spelling ‘Nikita Khrushev’, the First Secretary of the USSR who was deposed by Leonid Brezhnev at a later stage. This letter is also commonly used as in the word “хліб” or ‘bread’ in English.
Now having said that and in all fairness to the Ukrainian, or for that matter the Russian, pronunciation of the letter “X” it does not even come anywhere near to the letter ‘K’ in the English sounds uttered when reciting their alphabet. My best suggestion is to approach any Ukrainian that you can and show him N. K.s cyrillic name and ask him to pronounce it.

Also when you made the comment, and I quote you verbatim, “So, when you say:

[Just as Rooskies never had an “H” they decided to outlaw Ukrainian’s letter “G” for spite. ]” I would like to respectfully correct you in that it was not I that made that comment but Georg.

As to your last sentence, no I’m not saying that the “Russians never had glottal fricative /ɦ/? Why is this so bad” – as firstly the letter “X” belongs to that class, and secondly I don’t think it bad as I don’t have an opinion on it which bothers me, I use it/them because of the nature of the Ukrainian language and thirdly why is it so bad? Again I don’t have an opinion on that one, but as an after thought I can only add that it is hard, for example, on an Englishman to pronounce when he has never in his life used that sound and he has to learn to pronounce it, especially so if he is trying to learn another language.

            • Dear Bogdan/elmer/whoever (you seem to have multiple names) I won’t comment on your retarded remarks or your incoheren ramblings. But it seems that the hardline Soviet mentality is more entrenched in Ukraine than even in Russia. You keep on parrotting the same idiotic Stalinist talking points, like the part about Romania being “fascist” (even though none of you Ukrainian morons was able to explain when and in what sense Romania was fascist), while at the same time denying Ukrainian participation in the Holocaust (which was considerably more “efficient” and more brutal in Ukraine than in Transnistria) and in Soviet repression (again, in terms of sheer numbers and scale, Ukrainian/Russian crimes dwarf Romanian war crimes).

I guess you’re just confused, you don’t know what your real name is, you oscilate between being a Stalinist and a neo-Nazi, you deny the Holocaust yet accuse others of Holocaust participation, you hate Russians but you love Russian imperialism when it serves your purposes etc etc. Are you gender-confused as well? Poor thing.

              • Listen you brainless, lying, retarded imbecile. My real name is Bohdan and it is the only name I use as a blogger. So unlike your “A” which I can only guess is short for “asshole”. Be good enough to explain why you are hiding under the letter ‘A’? Is it because you are running away from some countries police where you have made the most wanted top 10!! Come on trash get it for once and all of your chest and spill your guts.

As for your comments “I won’t comment on your retarded remarks or your incoheren ramblings. Learn to spell retard and stop judging me by yourself – that is a normal but nevertheless still a very bad point on your part!

About Romania being fascist? Pray tell on whose side were they on, especially outside Stalingrad. None other then Nazi Hitler’s side. Now deny this you grossly lying scum of a worm! Your Romanian fascists had a whole army there! A whole army mind you.
Why don’t you tell us about the Fascist political forces such as the Iron Guard!
Or that the fascist and military factions, who had eventually staged a coup that turned the country into a fascist dictatorship under conducătorul Ion Antonescu. The new regime has firmly set the country on the course towards the Axis camp, officially joining the Axis Powers on November 23, 1940. As a member of the Axis, Romania joined the invasion of the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, providing equipment and oil to Nazi Germany as well as committing more troops to the Eastern Front than all the other allies of Germany combined. Romanian forces played a large role during the fighting in Ukraine, Bessarabia, Stalingrad, and elsewhere. In addition, Romanian troops were responsible for the persecution and massacre of 280,000 to 380,000 Jews inside and outside of Romania, though most Jews living within Romanian borders survived the Holocaust, albeit under harsh conditions.[1]

Now deny all this you grossly lying scum bag, information which came right out of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

As for being confused chum, let’s face the truth, it is you that is confused, and who twists the truth to suit your warped and evil mind.

Lastly I am not going to waste my good time answering your trashy propaganda, so full of lies that you cannot even prove just one point on me.

Yes all you do is lie, lie and lie some more. I’m starting to wonder just who you are trying to protect out of your parents and or relatives that served so cowardly in the Fascist political forces such as the Iron Guard! and or et al!

Now deny any or all the information I part copied and pasted out of Wikipedia, you lying, retarded poor excuse for a human!

                • Well, I can’t expect anything but gibberish, insults and Soviet propaganda from a Ukrainian nationalist moron. I asked you to explain when Romania was fascist, and you spewed more gibberish and insults. Nobody, except Stalinist morons like you, has argued that Antonescu was a “fascist”, and as for the Iron Guard, it was Antonescu who decimated them. So defending your ancestral territories against Soviet scum is “fascism”, yeah, good one, this coming from somebody whose country was involved in the killing of over 2 million Jews, who did the dirty work for the Romanian and German armies, and who participated in the killing and deportation of hundreds of thousands of people in Bassarabia and Bucovina. Were Finland and the Baltic States, who also fought against the Soviets, “fascist” too? I guess everyone is “fascist” except the genuinely fascist Ukrainians who were staffing German death camps, and who within a couple of years were doing the killing for the Russians.

Attacks on somebody’s family are low, in this case it’s particularly ridiculous, since I come from a Protestant background, and Protestants were among the targets of the Iron Guard, along with Jews. How about your family, which of your masters were they serving, Germans, Romanians or Russians? It seems Ukrainians have a long history of eagerly doing the dirty work for whoever needs them, whether it’s been Poles, Turks, Russians, Moldavians, Mongols, Tatars etc etc.

  12. Sorry about that, the larussophobe server was down for maintenance and I posted twice.

@A. You are a lying Hyena of a Savok.

November, 1918, Romania annexed Northern Bukovina along with other territories, Romanian territory grew from 131.3 thousand to 295 thousand square meters, and the population from 6.7 to 18 million people. I wonder if the same data is found in Romania historical sources as well; it would be interesting to see how your historians treat that fact.

Ukraine’s foreign policy began before the Ukrainian declaration of independence on August 24, 1991. In fact, it began immediately after the adoption of the state sovereignty on July 16, 1990,

  13. Haha. I’m a “Russian occupier”? :) I don’t even speak Russian, nor have I ever been to Russia. I think you’re delusional, poor Georg.

And how can a country occupy itself? Are you completely crazy? In 1918 the whole of Bucovina (which had a Romanian majority) VOTED to join Romania, your poor little idiot. Even non-Romanian ethnic groups (Germans and Jews in particular) supported the union. Prior to 1918 Bucovina had belonged to the Austrian Empire (1775-1918) and to the Romanian principate of Moldavia. Ukraine didn’t even exist until 1919. And there were no Ukrainians until the 19th century in Bucovina, the only Slavic minorities were Poles and Hutsuls. So lay off the vodka and the Soviet propaganda, and learn some history. You make Ukrainians look like complete idiots, but I know it’s not the case, fortunately most Ukrainians don’t share your paranoid, xenophobic fantasies

    • Hm, and you passed a judgement whether Moscow is a civilized place. Without having visiting the place. Dude — I did not expect the old mentality to be so deep rooted in Romania. It’s like the old Soviet joke: “I’ve never read Solzhenitsyn, but I indignantly condemn as lies everything he wrote!”

      • Touche. In all fairness, civilized is a loaded term. I was referring to things like criminality, corruption and racist violence, which are (more or less) measured by quantifiable data, and I think that whole discussion was about quality of life and how it’s not just measured by average income transformed in EUR or $. It’s true that information from the media and from other people’s accounts is not as reliable as hands on experience, but to be honest I don’t think I want to have hands on experience with neo-Nazi gangs, for instance :) That said, once Russia lifts its bizarre visa system for foreign visitors, sure I’d like to check out Moscow, so I can trash talk it with more gusto next time we argue about whose city is better :)

Just as I’d like to see Kiev, I understand it’s a cool place and my guess is I won’t be meeting Heorh there, he’s probably one of those Ukrainian neo-Nazis who live in the US or Australia. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t even been to Ukraine.

        • A wrote:
[That said, once Russia lifts its bizarre visa system for foreign visitors..]

What do you mean by that? That Russia requires foreign visitors to have visas?

Well, doesn’t Romania, like all EU countries require Russian visitors to Romania to have visas? And aren’t these visas to EU more difficult for Russians to obtain than vice versa?

And when you want to visit USA, you are required to obtain a visa too; and many average Russians, Ukrainians and Romanians are denied such visas.

          • True, visa reciprocity seems fair in theory, but in realistic terms it doesn’t really work that way. For example, an American can go to Mexico without a visa, but it doesn’t work the other way round. Mexico could require reciprocity, but then they’d lose a lot of tourists etc. So in practical terms, it makes more sense for Russia to lift its visa system and benefit from an increased flow of European tourists than to stay isolated.

        • Never saw a Neo-Nazi gang in Moscow, although I lived there for 4 years. I am sure there are some though. The statement that “civilized” is a loaded term is a good start. I am not against discussing all sorts of Russian problems, however, any discussion starting with “you are a barbaric nation” very easily degrades to the level of Andrew’s and Elmer’s posts.

          • Fair enough, collective accusations of barbarism don’t go anywhere. This blog touches on sensitive subjects, and the language is deliberately inflammatory (I personally think it’s tongue-in-cheek, even the term La Russophobe is a sarcastic gesture alluding to how any criticism of the Putin regime is labeled as “russophobic), which leads to heated conversations that sometimes sink to xenophobia.

I don’t think most people who comment here have any ethnic hatred of Russians (some are Russophones themselves), the only one(s) who do(es) is /are Georg/LES/elmer (and a couple of other names I forget), but then again he/ they hate everybody, so it’s nothing personal.

            • [it’s tongue-in-cheek]

Yes. But unfortunately, not in the facial cheek. It’s in the other cheek, way lower.

  14. Sorry, I meant Heorh, not Georg. I didn’t understand what you were saying about the G and H. You need to work on your coherence (and your English, especially since I assume you’re an immigrant)

  15. “Ukraine didn’t even exist until 1919”

    @A. Lying trolling half wit.

  16. Haha Heorh, you really are ignorant. How old are you? 12? In what parallel universe was there an internationally-recognized Ukraine before 1919? (And it lasted for one year, wow, that’s a lot of history)

  17. A. AT, You POS read this and weep.

    World’s Oldest House
The oldest house in the world is this 15,000 year old one made of mammoth bones found at Mezhirich near Kiev in Ukraine. It was probably covered with mammoth hides. Cupid uses the Scythian bow from Ukraine to shoot his arrows of love (New York Times). The world’s first known horseman rode in Dereivka, central Ukraine, 6,000 years ago. This Scythian on a galloping horse is a 4th century B.C. gold plaque found in Kul Oba (Kerch), Ukraine. Pants or trousers, were probably invented about 6,000 years ago by the horsemen on the Steppes of Ukraine. Pants were the typical dress of the Scythian warriors of ancient Scythia-Ukraine 2,600 years ago. Pants are particularly suited to a northern climate and to horsemen which places the logical origin on the steppes or prairies of Eastern Europe, or Ukraine. They are depicted on ancient gold jewelry and vases found in Ukrainian burial mounds (kurgans). Some ancient Greeks, such as Hippocrates, thought poorly of the pants worn by the Ukrainian Scythians. James and Thorpe mention pants were popular among many nations but do not suggest the possible location of the origin of them.

The oldest map in the world, discovered in Ukraine in 1966, is from about 10,000 B.C. Inscribed on a mammoth tusk it was found in Mezhirich, Ukraine. It has been interpreted to show a river with dwellings along a river (p. 57). However, the best claim to the title of “the earliest map in the world” appears on a beautifully engraved silver vase from Maikop in Ukraine, according to James and Thorpe. It was found in a Ukrainian tomb dated at 5,000 years old. It shows two rivers, a mountain range, a lake or sea and wild animals (p. 56-57).

The Scythians of Ukraine shocked the Greeks and Romans because they drank their wine full strength, straight and not mixed with water in the Greek tradition. The ancient Greeks had a saying “drinking the Scythian way” which was to drink wine straight. James and Thorpe seem to be unaware that ancient Scythia was located only in Ukraine not in Russia so they are in error to call the Scythians “ancient Russian people” (p. 331).

Incidentally, we use the term Ukrainian Scythians to dinstinguish them from the culturally related Asian Pazyryk people in Siberia who were also called Scythians.

The Scythians were described by Herodotus 2,500 years ago as having small tents which served as vapor baths or saunas. However, the Scythians also improved their vapor steam baths by burning cannabis (marijuana or hashish) on hot stones so they got high along with their steam bath. Herotodus said innocently, “The Scythians enjoy it so much that they howl with pleasure.” He said that the Scythian vapor bath of Ukraine gave off “a vapor unsurpassed by any vapor bath one could find in Greece” (p. 448).

Trajan’s Column in Rome, built about 115 A.D., has a figure of an armored cavalryman, whose horse also has chain armor. He is probably a Sarmatian from Ukraine.

  18. The likes of Georg discredited Yuschenko and brought Yanukovich to power. Sad. Intrepid Latynina insists that democracy (which usually means free elections) in poor countries is a crap-shoot. Worked well in India and Georgia; didn’t work in Ukraine and Gaza.

People look at “Georgs” obsession with history and indifference to economics – and decide to try something else.

Last point (mainly towards LR herself): the article to which you linked is disgusting. The constant liberal meme that “Yanukovich is like Bush”, or “Republicans are like Taliban” got tedious many years ago. I am sure there are plenty intelligent articles about Yanukovich whose authors don’t suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome.

  19. Some Ukrainians voted for Yanukovych becasue he represented the Party of Regions?! How unusual! Here in USA nobody votes for candidates based on the party principle. In fact, nobody in USA cares about Republicans vs. Democrats.

It seems that the Rooshan Eastern Ukraine is populated by the worst people in the World. There is no hope, especially because Yanukovych is in power.

There can be only one solution: to separate this Rooshan Ukraine – Odessa, Crimea, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetzk, etrc – from the REAL Ukraine – i.e., Western Ukraine, and to have two separate Ukraines.

  20. Heorh, you’re a hilarious little man. So if the Sarmatians and Scythians (no connection whatsoever to the Slavs) used to amaze the Greeks and Romans with their drinking abilities, then, uhmm, what? Were you trying to make a point? I’m not sure how that relates to Yanukovic or anything else that anyone commented here. Maybe you’ve been engaging in Scythian activities as well and you forgot your point.

  21. Arthur,

Here in USA nobody votes for candidates based on the party principle. In fact, nobody in USA cares about Republicans vs. Democrats.

Are you talking about school board elections? Any elected position on a state, let alone national level is driven by party much more than by personality… Schwarzenegger might be only exception…

    • Thank you,, Fellix, for understanding my sarcasm so well.

      • your sarcasm would be more obvious if it were closer to elmer’s post to which you were responding – or maybe a quote that you are referring to would be helpful for us simpletons…

In any event, yes I missed the sarcasm, and I apologize

  22. A wrote:

    Heorh disproved:
[The oldest house in the world is this 15,000 year old one made of mammoth bones found at Mezhirich near Kiev in Ukraine.]

The mammoths officially recognised Ukraine 15,000 years ago and sent their ambassadors there. Why can’t you, A., eh?

  23. The name “Georg” in Ukrainian translates to “Yurij” (pronounced “Yooree”).

    Not “Heorh”.

Rooshans don’t have the letter “h” – which is part of their problem.

The rooshan language sounds like someone is mumbling badly, interspersed with guttural and other nasty sounds – “ga-ga” and “kak-a.”

Berezovsky, a Jewish oligarch from Roosha, had to flee Rasha.

Voting in Ukraine? Well, in Eastern Ukraine, they voted like the “Yellow Dog Democrats” used to vote from the South in the US – if a yellow dog ran as a Democrat, they would vote for the yellow dog.

Except that in Ukraine, the “yellow dog” turned out to be Yanukovych.

But it remains to be seen whether Yanukovych really wants to lick Putler’s hand, or if he is as obedient a lap dog as Putler thinks he is.

In 1991, all of the sovok republics and satellites decided that they no longer wanted to report to headquarters – maskva and the kremlin and all those nasty jerks.

And yet again, we see that psychotic sovok propaganda creep in – Tymoshenko is “nationalistic” – oy vey, Ukraine is standing up for itself, not to the liking of the little rooshan sovoks that show up here to try to hang on to sovok rashan “glory” and “domination.”

    Sad little trolls, indeed.

Ukraine has a very long history, but one of the seminal dates in Ukrainian history is the Christianization of Ukraine in 988 A.D.

Long before the existence of the God-forsaken evil mud pit known as maskva.

For a history of Ukraine, see:

    http://encyclopediaofukraine.com/history.asp

For a brief history of the area of Ukraine known as Bukovyna, see:

    http://www.encyclopediaofukraine.com/display.asp?AddButton=pagesBUBukovyna.htm

Bukovyna is a transitional land between Ukraine and Romania. From a historical perspective it is a strategically important border area between Galicia and Moldavia, as it lies at the northwest entrance to Moldavia. Bukovyna’s transitional location influenced its history; it belonged to the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia, then to Moldavia. Polish and Hungarian influences intersected here in the 14th and 15th centuries. In 1919–40 and 1941–4 all of Bukovyna belonged to Romania. It was only in 1940 that Bukovyna was divided, along ethnic lines, between Ukraine and Romania. Bukovyna’s territory consists of 10,440 sq km, of which about 5,500 belong to Ukraine. The population in 1930 was 853,000, about 520,000 of which became citizens of the Ukrainian SSR in 1940.

    • LES,

What is the point of you changing your nick to “Georg” and “elmer” from post to post? You still use the same telltale words like “roosha”.

    • Dear LES/elmer/Yuri,

Haven’t we been through this discussion before? I remember then you had to shut up when faced with historical facts. So I’ll give you a re-run:

Justifying Ukrainian expansionism by linking the modern state of Ukraine with a loose, multi-national, Viking-led state from the Dark Ages is laughable. But at least this time you stopped at the Vikings, rather than go all the way to the mammoths. By your logic, Romania would be entitled not only to large swathes of what is now Ukraine, but also most of Hungary, Slovakia, Northern Serbia etc because they used to be part of the ancient kingdom of Dacia. But of course that’s a crazy approach to contemporary geopolitics. Not even the Soviets were that crazy.

And now for Bucovina, which was never a “transitional” territory at all, and may I remind you that the name itself is a late 18th century invention, before that the region had no special name, since it was a part of Moldavia (and the medieval capital of Moldavia was in Bucovina). So while parts of what is now Northern Bucovina MIGHT have BRIEFLY been annexed by some tribe or other prior to the 14th century, throughout ALL recorded history up until 1940, all of Bucovina was Romanian territory, first as part of the independent principality of Moldavia, then the Austrian empire (with Romanian and German as the official languages, and the Romanian nobility as the dominant force in regional politics), and then Romania. And I remind you once again, not even the Soviets could think of any historical claim to Bucovina, so they justified its annexion as “reparation” for Bassarabia’s union with Romania in 1918. I also remind you that at least 60-70% of the current population of Cernauti is formed of Soviet-era immigrants; prior to 1940, the dominant ethnic groups were Jews, Romanians and Gemans.

    • Georg/Heorh/Yurij/Elmer/Les wrote:
[The name “Georg” in Ukrainian translates to “Yurij” (pronounced “Yooree”).]

Actually, it is more Russian than Ukrainian and is pronounced “Yureey”, with a “y” at the end. Isn’t that what “j” in “Yurij” stands for?

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri

Yuri is a common first name in several languages, with alternately masculine and feminine denotations depending on the specific culture. In Russia, for example, it is a common male given name meaning ‘George’.

Be proud of your latest nick. This name belonged to Prince Yuri Dolgorukiy, the founder of Moscow; Yuri Gagarin, first man in space ; etc. Don’t use “elmer” or “Les”. There were few if any great people with these names.

BTW, which one is your REAL name?

    • [Rooshans don’t have the letter “h” – which is part of their problem.]

A “problem”? LOL. Well, at least the Rooshans refer to “Gregory” as “Grigory” not as “Hryhory”. What a horror of a name.

[Rooshans don’t have the letter “h” – which is part of their problem.]

You are like in the good old joke form the late 1980s. Two Ukrainain nationalists talk to eaxh other:

      – Hryhory, do you know how Moskals call “pyvo” (“beer”)?

      – No, Hrehor, how?

      – They call it “pivo”!

      – With an “i”?!! I want to kill them all!

  24. WTF has Berezovsky’s Jewishness has to do with the topic? Yes, Berezovsky is in exile, and Khodorkovsky is in jail; but Abramovich and Friedman are doing very well indeed.

Also, I don’t think that Yuschenko’s glorification of Bandera is anti-Semite, or that Berezovsky’s endorsement of Yuschenko means that same Yuschenko is Zionists’ collective pocket.

Both Russia and Ukraine have plenty of problems; fortunately, Antisemitism is very low on the list. Elmer, by constantly bringing it up you might have looked as agent-provocateur. However, since your posts don’t make sense – you look like an idiot instead.

  25. Юр, Юрко, Юрій – these are indeed variants, in Ukrainian, of the name “George” – as in St. George, or Святий Юрій.

None of which translates, from Ukrainian, to “Heorh.”

I did not bring up anti-Semitism – you little rooskie sovoks did, and do, at every opportunity, with the false sovok propaganda about Ukrainians being Nazis.

roosha glorifies lenin, who was a mass murderer.

roosha glorifies stalin, who was a mass murderer.

Criminals, like Simon Mogilevych, a 300-pound tub of lard, flee to maskva, roosha for sanctuary, where Putler keeps them safely.

Ukraine is developing its democracy – roosha is developing Putlerism.

As for history, A., you spouting off sovok propaganda doesn’t count.

And every country in the world had its beginnings somewhere, before the world developed from city-states to principalities to nation-states.

Ukraine, like many other countries in their history, was overrun in assorted sectors at various times, by assorted powers.

In the eastern portion, it was roosha.

Nevertheless, today Ukraine is a free and independent state.

No matter how much little rooskie sovoks still try to peddle the false ideas and notions that “Ukraine does not exist,” or that “Ukraine exists only due to the ‘good graces’ of oily orthodox ‘mother’ roosha” – Ukraine is a free and independent and sovereign state.

No matter how much little rooskie sovoks still try to falsify Ukrainian history in an attempt to undermine Ukraine – Ukraine is a free, independent and sovereign state.

And it is still developing its democracy, like human beings.

Unlike the sovok homo sovieticus cattle in roosha, whose motto continues to be “hurt me better, beat me better, all for the glory of Putler.”

    • lol Yuri/elmer/heorh/whatever you’re called. So all historical accounts except your crazed neo-Stalinist fantasies are “Sovok propaganda”? I guess there was one huge world conspiracy from the Middle Ages to the present day by “sovoks” to falsify Ukraine’s 15,000 year history and its global dominance (as attested by the famous Ukrainian globe mentioned by Arthur earlier).

So elmer/Yuri, please answer this and don’t avoid answers again. So if you hate “sovoks” and Russians so much, how come you love Stalin and Khrushchev, you love Stalin-era Soviet propaganda, and support the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact? Please enlighten me, it’s very fascinating. Even the craziest Russian ultra-nationalists that have occasionally posted on this blog haven’t sunk to the levels of sheer stupidity and Stalinist nostalgia that these “anti-Russian” Ukrainian nationalists have.

  26. Arthur! I’m immensely glad you hate Ukrainians so much and you are so paranoid about the Scary Monster of Nationalism that you see problem where the one is conspicuously absent. For instance, it took elmer just to be like someone’s Jew, and you start crying anti-semitism, but calm down my dear, that’s totally natural, some people are Jew, some of them aren’t though the line between ethnic groups always was very unclear so I for instance having in my veins a real Balcano-Levantine gene cocktail of Romanian, Roma, Croatioan, Greek and Jewish blood, and it’s just something I know about am in even more than 2 minds about my ethnicity, but still since the world is split into different Imaginary Communities we need to align ourselves with some of them and being a Ukrainian citizen… ok, enough about it…
So, Arthur, it’s not an indicator of anti-semitism just to point at someone’s Jewish background, moreover elmer also has some point and his reasoning is quite sound. He’s just like: is really pro-RuSSian policy beneficial for Jewish minority in Ukraine and Jewish business in particular? I always wondered myself, why no one, especially among our Ukrainian Jews gives it a thought, because RuSSia with its latently fascist xenophobic mentality never was a friend of Jewery, never, even during WW2… Anti-Semitism is an vital part of so called Russian idea. Even in Ukraine anti-semitism was spread by Czarist officials as a way to NEUTRALIZE UKRAINIAN NATIONALISM!!! Yes there was a really shameful and disastrous for Ukrainians themselves Chmelnicki uprising and the Sho3ah ha Rishonah, but that’s totally different story and again who was the chief beneficiary of this national disaster, Ukraine thrown in a turmoil of The Ruin? No, our Old Good RuSSia) And agian, elmer has the point if the leaders of Ukrainian Jewery had some brains they’d think twice before giving support to Ukrainian Ruscists, and it’s more than stupidity it’s a treason to their own nation. Think about this, whatever shortcomings Ukrainian nationalism has, and it does, if you see a bigger picture it’s evident that it alligns itself with the US, euro-atlantic community with its values and geopolitical interests, it’s not an arbitrary choice, it’s objective, having RuSSia as the biggest threat and an enemy #1, and that’s something Ukrainians have no way to change, that’s just their destiny, they have nowhere else to turn their eyes but the West and America. And what’s this country Israel owes so much… a BIG BIG TIME! So wouldn’t it be logical to assume that all friends of America should be friends of Israel and all enemies of America the enemies of Israel?
But still many Jews here indeed are Ukrainian-nationalism scared and support pro-Russian politician, against the best interests of Israel’s main backer, maybe the only real backer in the world. Do they hate their Motherland so much and all: ok may RuSSia eventually defeat Americans so Arabs, Iranians et al will be able to bomb “Zionist State” off the face of the Earth!? Cool, right?

  27. Damien, I don’t understand you. I remember you’ve posted on this blog before and you seem like a sensible person, you’re clearly in a different league than the schizophrenic ultra-nationalist types such as elmer/Yuri/LES etc (who are at the same time hysterically Stalinist and hysterically anti-Russian). You aren’t even Ukrainian. So why do you prefer a pro-Russian presidential candidate who wants to step up the persecution of minorities such as yourself, to an equally pro-Russian candidate, who seems to be less crazy, and who has promised to grant basic rights to ethnic minorities (a commitment which Ukraine has taken more than a decade ago, yet has failed to keep) and to try to make Ukraine less of a pariah state, by improving relations with both its western and eastern neighbors?

Ukrainian nationalism is completely crazy, arguably worse than Russian nationalism (equalled in craziness just by Serbian nationalism), it has a murderous past and a mythology based on completely ridiculous fabrications of history, and at its heart is a pathological hatred and fear of Russians, Romanians, Poles, Germans, Hungarians and Jews, well everybody basically. Where do you think such a diseased ideology could lead you? Is it worth being isolated and despised by all your neighbors just to put those minorities in their place, and to provoke and offend everybody? Fortunately, most Ukrainians have said no. Europe doesn’t need a female Milosevic.

    • @A. You are an embarrassment to Romanians, Rashans, NeoBolsheviks or whomever you claim to be. @A. you are so stupid that none of these groups would claim you.

That last bit of “Psychobabble” would only honor, any of your imagined enemies. They could say “see what we have to put up with”. No defense is needed. You can’t even sort facts or think, making further conversation useless. Time for you to get a new Sockpuppet.

      • Yeah Yuri, I thought you would be unable to answer my questions, and when presented with historical facts you’d either vanish, or respond with some pathetic insult in broken English. I was right. But I guess you can’t expect from Ukrainian nationalists anything other than crazy, mouth-foaming rants. It must be tough to have such a traumatic historical inferiority complex.

    • I think any nationalism is crazy and, at its core, hatred based. In this sense nationalism is worse than imperialism, at least as it was practised by the continental empires and even the Ottomans. I guess, finding the right balance between nationalism and imperialism is what makes countries and cultures successful.

  28. @A. & Sockpuppet AT,

Talk about nationalism, I would not want you on my street, never mind my country.

  29. @A. Thank you very much, I learned so much about Romanians from you.

@A. Quote: “I can’t speak for the Germans, but Romania’s reason for entering the war was to recover its territories and to annihilate the Bolshevik threat, nothing to do with “hook-nosed Jews”. It was indeed my mistake to talk about Ukrainians without mentioning Jews.”

  30. By the way, whose sockpuppet am I in your view?

  31. Little rooskie sovoks distorting, deflecting and dissembling.

How anyone could claim that I am a fan of stalin is beyond me, or anyone who has the least bit of intelligence.

stalin is a stain on roosha’s history, on sovok history, on human history in general.

The fact that there are people like Putler and others in roosha who enshrine stalin even today, despite all that is known about stalin and his terror-ridden murderous regime, is atrocious.

As far as “nationalism” is concerned – there it is yet again – rookie sovok lies, deception and decrepitude.

To rooskie sovoks, anyone who dares to stand up for the independence and freedom of his or her own country free from domination by maskva and the kremlin and Putler and his KGB thugs is a “dirty nationalist” and a “fascist” and a “Nazi.”

That is the sovok lexicon that little rooskie sovoks use to try to undermine freedom, indepence and sovereignty anywhere.

The kind of “nationalism” I am talking about, the kind of “nationalism” that anyone in Ukraine has talked about in the recent past or today, is simply this – freedom, independence and sovereignty, free from any domination by maskva, the kremlin, or Putler and his KGB cohort.

There is no “fascism” or “nazism” attached to it – except, of course, when little rooskie sovok thugs resort to that language to try to distort and undermine freedom and independence from maskva.

By the way, the history that I presented had an authoritative link to it. I can present others.

The history that “A.” presents is merely the ramblings of a little rooskie sovoks doing what the sovoks did and still do today (as with the glorification of stalin) –

distort and rewrite the facts to fit a certain rooskie sovok paradigm.

There is no sovok empire today. There is no rooshan empire today.

And Ukraine is a sovereign, free and independent state.

  32. elmer or whatever you’re calling yourself now (why do you keep doing that, just stick to one damn name):

You do realize that you sound like a rambling lunatic, right? So you don’t love Stalin but you love Stalinist crimes and you defend the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, uhmm, ok, very logical.

It’s annoying to have to argue with idiots, but I’ll give you one last chance to show that you’re not completely retarded. Please refute the following facts (which even your “authoritative” obscure nationalist website didn’t refute):

    – What is now called Bucovina belonged to Moldavia (1348-1775), Austria (1775-1918) and Romania (1918-1940). Ukraine doesn’t figure on the list, since there was no Ukraine before 1919.

    – When Austria occupied Bucovina, there were basically no Ukrainians (1775 census – 85% Romanians, the rest Poles, Hutsuls etc). Large numbers of Ruthenians were colonized by the Austrians in the 19th century. The immigrants never formed a majority and at the time considered themselves Ruthenians, not Ukrainians.

    – Northern Bucovina, Hertza, Hotin and Southern Bessarabia were awareded by Stalin and Khrushchev to Ukraine.

I know we’ve had this convo before but let’s see if since then you’ve thought of an answer. So don’t ramble about mammoths, Sarmatians, the Rus, “sovoks” (whatever the hell that means), world conspiracies etc, just stick to the precise points. I’ll change my name to Taras Bulba if you manage to do what I requested.

    • Just like the Romanians treated Ukrainian Jews, The Policies toward the Ukrainian diaspora minority in Romania remained hostile.

The territories of Bukovina (today split between Romania and Ukraine) and Bessarabia (today by 2/3 in the Republic of Moldova and 1/3 in Ukraine), historically populated by the Romanians and Ukrainians for hundreds of years.

In 1775, Bukovina was annexed by the Habsburg Empire, which offered certain currency in the public life for the two nations,[7] however the general policy on churches and education disfavored the Christian Orthodox population.[8]. Austrian control favored immigration to develop the economy of the region.[9][10] Due to Bukovina being administratively linked to the province of Galicia, the ethnic composition of the province was altered by waves of Ruthenian (Ukrainian), German and Jewish immigrants.[7][9] According to Keith Hitchins,[9] “In 1774 the estimated population was 75000; in 1810 it was 198,000, and in 1848 378,000. The changes in the province’s ethnic composition were dramatic. In 1774 the Romanians constituted an overwhelming majority, roughly 64,000 to 8,000 Ruthenians (Ukrainians) and 3,000 others. By 1810 the Romanian share had fallen from 85 per cent to 75 per cent (150,000 to 48,000 non-Romanians), and in 1848 there were 209,000 Romanians (55 per cent), 109,000 Ukrainians (29 per cent) and 60,000 others (16 per cent). The Jewish population rose from 526 in 1774 to 11,600 in 1848.”

In 1918, following the collapse of Austria-Hungary, control over the whole of Bukovina fell under the Kingdom of Romania. The takeover was followed by the policy of Romanianization of ethnic minorities, mostly Ukrainians, pursued by the Romanian authorities. The policies were built on an increasing sentiment spread in Romanian media and historic works that all of Bukovina was inherently a Romanian ethnic territory. Ion Nistor, a prominent Romanian historian and one of the most vocal proponents of Greater Romanian nationalism,[11][12] was made a rector of the University of Cernăuţi (Chernivtsi), the main university of the province. Enrollment of Ukrainians in the university fell from 239 out of 1671 in 1914 to 155 out of 3,247 in 1933, while Romanian enrollment in the same period increased to 2,117 out of 3,247.[13]

The Romanization policies brought the closure of the Ukrainian public schools (all such schools were closed until 1928) and the suppression of most of the Ukrainian (Ruthenian) cultural institutions. The very term “Ukrainians” was prohibited from the official usage and some populations of disputable Ukrainian ethnicity were rather called the “citizens of Romania who forgot their native language” and were forced to change their last names to Romanian-sounding ones.[11] As such, according to the Romanian census, of the total population of 805,000, 74% were called Romanians; the number included the Ukrainians and other possibly related Ukrainian ethnic groups Hutsuls referred to as “Romanians who forgot their native language”.

According to the 1930 census, Ukrainians made up 3.2% of the population of Romania. The declines in Ukrainian population between the censuses of 1919 and 1930 is illustrated as follows: the first census indicates a population of 16,250,000, of which 763,750 (4.7%) were Ukrainians; in 1930, as the total population had increased by 11% (to 18,025,896), the Ukrainian community had dropped to 576,828 members (75.5% of the previous total).[14]

  33. A. yes, I don’t know how sensible i am, but judging from all I know about political ideologies as a political scientist, at least by my official education, I am NOT a nationalist, neither Ukrainian, nor Polish nor G-d forbid Russian, but I may say that I’m a situational nationalist, because UNFORTUNATELY for now Ukrainian nationalism is the only force we can rely upon, to keep us as far from Russia and Russians as only possible and that’s my personal agenda not because I don’t like Russian people as individuals, to be frank I have many friends who are ethnic Russians but because I’m aware of a nature of this nation as a cultural and political entity, i.e. anti-individualistic, anti-American, anti-progressive, antiliberal, reactionary, backword, repressive, brutal, chauvinistic, narrow-minded, ignorant, full of religious superstitions and intolerance. Just read a terrific book by marquis de Custine, he managed to get an insight into the very mysterious Russian soul. I don’t idealize Ukraine, in a lot of respects, and partly due to too long period of being Russia-dominated, it has much, ooo so much in common with our Eastern neigbor, and I bet whatever you dislike about Ukraine is just a reflection of this orientalization, which has to be stopped and reversed. But Ukraine is a relatively small country and it has at least some legacy, first of all from times when it was a part of the glorious Rzecz Pospolita and Austro-Hungary, making possible its radical reinvention into a westernized nation with total transformation of people’s mentality and identity, analogical to what Mustafa Kemal, another great “nationalist” made to Turks, remoulding them into a modern European-like nation, still Muslim, but not a part of The Islamic World anymore, he just proved we can do it and showed how to do it as well. So Ukraine too can be mostly Orthodox and Slavic but without being a part of Russia-centered so called Slavo-Orthodox “civilization”. And RuSSia with its 5-th column and, believe me, totally ovewhelming presence of Russian language and culture everywhere is our main obstacle to achieving this goal. And though I’m not an ethnic Ukrainian I’m ready to support even nationalists because I want to live in a WESTERN country not in a russified moronic “Slavo-Orthodox” backwater. And look how can I do otherwise. For instance take Tiahnybok, an epitomy of scary murderous nationalist, but what he’s talking about? He advocates Ukraine joining NATO and even more he says Ukraine has to sign bilateral mutual defence treaties with the US, UK and Poland, so if this “crazy nazi” was our President, not your country but mine :)))might benefit from hosting American Missile Defence. Only his fierce anti-immigrant rhetoric and more than slim chances to get into the second tour kept me from voting for him as the only articulate pro-Atlantic candidate. And what about this “civilized” russopile Yanukovich, his abominable party did everything to prevent from happening of my most precious dreams about seeing Ukrainian “Gold and Blue” streaming in Brussels next to the banners of other Free World’s countries, including the one of your country btw. And not Tymoshenko but these Doneck thugs, spread anti-American anti-NATO hysteria, since 2004, it’s Yanukovych, not Tymoshenko declared he wanted Ukraine neutered, sorry neutral, it’s Yanukovych said he was ready to keep RuSSian Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol, just in front of Constanta, are you happy to have this monster this close to your land? Yes, I know that to the West he presents himself as a civilised moderate minorities-cherishing, ecomy-focused cosmopolitan while in fact he’s a Russian nationalist and clerical Orthodox fanatic to the boot. Talking about minorities, unlike “nationalist” Yuschenko, Yanukovych showed his scorn of all other religious minorities, having received blessings from just one spiritual leader Moscow Patriarch Cyrill.
Yanukovych and his constituents deeply hate West and its ideals and they strongly anti-American. All these words about a “strategic parnership” are just a claptrap. You have to see his anti-Yuschenko propaganda in 2004, some pamphlets showed a Colorado beetle (standing for the US) encroaching upon Ukrainian territory (myth of Yuschenko as an American puppet).
As to Tymoshenko, I’m not her fan and for me it’s difficult to forgive her flirting with Putler, but I don’t think she’s really pro-Russian, unlike Yanukovych who’s indeed very consistent in his LUV to Moscow (tomu scho poslidownyi), she’s a purely macchiavelian politician making and breakink alliances as they serve her current needs, using whatever rhetoric which helps her get her way. The same can be said about her “nationalism”, btw no nationalist in Ukraine even believes in her allegiance to their agenda, they see she’s just a populist and typical “catch-all” demagog. That’s bad, but that’s much better than Yanukovych’s mindless russophilia.
But there’s something I’d like to tell you, I understand that your bias against Ukraine is not your fault, that’s a shame but Ukrainian patriots really failed to reach to non-Russian minorities and it’s really shocking to read that Romanians can align themselves with Russians, also I admit Poles were wronged a lot too. For instance in my own city, Kudak (that’s the original name of the one, given by the Poles who actually founded it) Roman Catholic community for years had to fight for their Kosciol being returned to them, while the authorities were opposing them and spreading fears of polonization. How damn stupid, to set the natural allies, i.e. Poles, Romanians, Jews against Ukrainians and letting Russians work and speak for all the minorities. Now it’d be very difficult to help it.
But still, A, as a Romanian you ARE NATO while Yanukovych and his gang whatever they are babbling about neutrality are antagoinists of NATO and so called neutrality would be just first step for Ukraine to being taken over by RuSSia and turned into a real anti-NATO country, thus eventually you will have an enemy on your border and yes, it’ll be Ukraine but because of the reasons totally different from what you guys fear.

  34. sorry for my mistakes, I see now I made a lot of them, I was in hurry and very agitated, be kind to me please)))

  35. Thank you Damien, nicely summed up. I will try to be more patient while I am being called names.

  36. Damien, I understand what you’re saying. However, I have no “bias against Ukraine”, quite the contrary. As you pointed out, Romanians, Ukrainians and Poles should normally be natural allies. A Poland-Romania-Ukraine alliance within the EU and NATO would alter the status quo in both organizations. Poland, Romania and Ukraine (UPR) were natural allies in 1919-20 as well, but unfortunately the Poles betrayed the Ukrainians, and the Romanians didn’t do much either to help the UPR survive as an independent state (which would have been in our interest as well).

That being said, you can’t expect Ukraine to join either the EU or NATO if it’s run by politicians who make provocative public remarks about their neighbors, rehabilitate war criminals, and have no respect for the basic rights of ethnic minorities. Why do you think that within just a few years, the Romanian minority (not the most Russophile of people, especially in Bucovina) and the Hungarians (not very Russophile either) switched from orange to Yanukovich? The same Yanukovich who had previously been known for anti-Romanian comments?

An Ukrainian patriot, as opposed to a rabid nationalist, would realize that Ukraine can’t function as a state if it antagonizes everybody, and it’s in Ukraine’s best interests to move towards EU integration. And you realize that xenophobia and disregard for minority rights won’t help with that. And yeah, that includes the rights of Russians as well. You can’t accuse Romania of being on buddy terms with Russia, but ethnic Russians (and Ukrainians as well) do have the right to study in their own language, to use their language in administration and the judiciary etc. What’s wrong with that?

  37. The only Rabid Nationalist and NeoNazi is you @A. Particulary since you claim Jews are not Ukrainians and don’t count as such.

The Party of the Regions is Rasha Centric, and Yanokovich is Putin’s Boy.

As far as minority rights, there is an influx of migrants coming into Ukraine. So much about minority rights, if they keep coming, even nasty Mangy Bearded Bolsheviks. I hope they go right on through, into Romania, so that you to can enjoy them.

Transdniestr, Moldova, and finally Romania will have RooSSiyski Refugees that are coming when it all goes down. You all will have much in common.

  38. So saying that a country should respect the treaties it signs and adhere to basic minority rights, like any democratic country, means being a “neo-Nazi”? :) You’re logical as usual, Yuri. I don’t know what that has to do with the “influx of migrants” but well, whatever, at least you’re not talking about mammoths and Sarmatian drinking habits again. I don’t know why you want to be in the EU if you are so scared of migrants, minorities and human rights.

It is amazing how you and other Ukes from Australia and Canada hate the foreign immigrants that come to Ukraine, and yet make angry speeches that Russian nationalists hate foreign immigrants. Hypocrites. You hate immigrants more than the worst Russian nationalists do.

Right now, because Russia is a much more advanced and prosperous country, Russia is flooded with millions of immigrants from the south: Central Asia, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine. In fact, afik, immigrants from Ukraine are the most numerous.

So, Ukraine gets few immigrants. But as Russia is beginning to turn some immigrants away, more and more will come to Ukraine, especially now that Ukraine has a sane president. So, soon Ukrainians will see more and more immigrants from the south.

Who the hell is Isaac Babel ?

  41. [he has confused poet Anna Akhmatova with his billionaire backer Rinat Akhmetov, the Jewish writer Isaac Babel with the German socialist August Bebel, Slovenia with Slovakia and genocide with genetics.]

I once knew a man who confused Babel with Bebel, Bebel with Hegel, Hegeil with Kugel, Van Gough with Van Damme, Van Damme with Van Dyk, Van Dyk with Two Dykes with Three Dicks, Rousseau with Renault, Renault with Rimbault, Rimbault with Rambo, and Volvo with female genitalia.

    • “Интеллигент отличает Гоголя от Гегеля, Гегеля от Бебеля, Бебеля от Бабеля, Бабеля от кабеля, кабеля от кобеля, и кобеля от суки.”

    • Who are “Van Gough”, “Rimbault” and “Hegeil”? They sound vaguely familiar.

No, Yanukovych confused genocide with gene pool. Alexander J. Motyl is confusing gene pool with genetics, which makes him no better than the object of his sarcasm.

[Um, Bush was just chucked out of office along with his party. Now that you know, we assume you agree the same should happen to Yanukovich, just as we’ve called for. Thanks for your support!]

As I recall, Bush was elected to two terms (the maximum) and retired undefeated. Moreover, you yourself can’t wait for Bush’s party – Republicans – and for the loser – McCain – to come back to power as soon as possible:

Kasparov calls Europe to Arms on Russia

    larussophobe // February 27, 2010

Republican John McCain called for open confrontation of Putin’s Russia, including booting it out of the G-8 and (b) we’ve often shown how Obama is weak on Russia. So if the Tea Party movement means Republicans taking back power and following the course of Ronald Reagan, then Putin is in big trouble.

  44. Damien Thorn,
Thanks for Jogging my memory, I vaguely remembered sometime ago reading The Marquis de Custine article, The long long ago look at Russia. I found a link to it in the NY Times.

” One needs to have lived in that solitude without tranquility, that prison without leisure that is called Russia, to appreciate all the freedom enjoyed in other European countries, no matter what form of government they have chosen.

Whenever your son is discontented in France, I have a simple remedy: tell him to go to Russia. The journey is beneficial for any foreigner, for whoever has properly experienced that country will be happy to live anywhere else.

For those who think him superficial, Custine had a confident response:

To all this, the Russians will make no reply. They will say: “In three months’ journey, he has not seen things properly.”

It is true, I have not seen things properly, but I have conjectured well.”
