NOTE:  Kim Zigfeld’s latest installment of her Russia column on the mighty Pajamas Media megablog deals with the shocking way in which French conservatives, including their mouthpiece newspaper Le Figaro, are playing footsie with the Putin dictatorship.  All true Reaganite conservatives, to say nothing of all liberals, should be appalled.

  1. Dear La Russophobe

I do not understand why you call yourself “Russophobe” when in fact you are “Russophile”. You worry about Russian more than most of them do. You also dedicate so much of your time for free to this country. You don’t even have commecial ads on this website. You must be called “La Russophile”. Don’t you find that some people are confused by your name – they think that you maybe make some facts darker than they actually are. When in fact you simply show reality in Russia and you genuinely wish this country well, unlike their government and citizens. You are true Russophiles.

    Thanks anyway, heroes!

  2. The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe, representing more than 700,000 lawyers from the EU and European Economic Area, has granted its 2009 Human Rights Award to Stanislav Markelov, a Russian lawyer assassinated on January 19th in Moscow.

Markelov, who was also a journalist and president of the Rule of Law Institute, defended Anna Politkovskaya, the Russian journalist shot dead in Moscow in 2006 while she was investigating atrocities of the Chechen war by the Russian military.

He also represented Mikhail Beketov, editor of a pro-opposition newspaper assaulted in 2008, and several Chechen nationals tortured during the Chechen wars.

He was assassinated days after the early release of an army colonel who was convicted of the rape and murder of an 18-year-old Chechen woman, as he left a press conference at which he denounced the early release.

A journalist at the press conference was also killed.

  3. Wiki Sidebar, baby :)

  4. La Russophobe, you have some links to other good websites. Why not to add link to Kavkaz Uzel. This is very nice professional website. I think it would be logical if you link with it. URL:
