NOTE:  LR founder and publisher Kim Zigfeld’s latest installment of her Russia column on the prestigious American Thinker blog is up and running.  In it, she condemns Russia’s horrifying repudiation of the rule of law, focusing on recent statements by the Chief Justice of Russia’s Supreme Court that validate authoritarian rule by the KGB.

NOTE:  For those who read Russian, Novaya Gazeta has published its interview with Russian “president” Dima Medvedev.  As an early commenter states, he talks much but says nothing. The Moscow Times has an English summary.

  1. “Asked by the newspaper whether he was aiming to “rehabilitate democracy” in Russia, Medvedev said that wasn’t needed. “

Not much new to see here, folks, better to just move along.

The economy also doesn’t need improving, except to be protected more from evil America. In fact, the only thing the paradise known as Russia needs other than that is a big wall to keep out all the hoards desperate to move in and live like Russians.

  2. You know, this reminds me of the wonderful movie, “Goodbye, Lenin”, which dealt with a commie den mother who goes into a coma, only to have East Germany freed from sovok-Russian oppression.

The doctors tell the son that any shock to the mother may be fatal when she wakes up from the coma.

Her son takes it upon himself to continue the illusion that East Germany is still a sovok republic.

He does it by creating face TV news broadcasts.

When the mother wakes up to find all sorts of cars in East Berlin, which was unthinkable in the sovok union, because there was a waiting list of 10 years or more, the son thinks up a priceless TV news broadcast:

“The gracious authorities of East Berlin have graciously allowed West Berliners to enter East Berlin, with their cars, in order to escape the oppressiveness of the evil West Berlin. That’s why you may notice a huge influx of cars into East Berlin.”

The son has a much harder time explaining the huge Coca-Cola sign across the street from the mother’s apartment.

Oh, look at all the desperate hoards, yearning to be sheeple, and have their rights trampled upon by Putler, moving into oily orthodox mother roosha!

How gracious of oily orthodox mother roosha to accept all the hoards yearning to be sheeple.

Glory to all of the wizards of the oily orthodox mother roosha church, and st. lenin, and st. stalin, and st. pootler!

  3. Here’s something that is bound to drive the rooskies into an absolute frenzy – pictures of the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.

You don’t have to know Ukrainian to recognize the churches and other areas.

There are 4 pages, and all you have to do is click on the succeeding numbers (1 2 3 4) to see the pictures.

The page numbers are at the top right and bottom right of the page.

    One of the signs says:

    “Our Kyiv is Ukrainian”

  4. Again, this will infuriate the rooskies – pictures of Odessa, Ukraine.

Stroll through the page numers, top right and bottom right of the pages.

  5. elmer, I remember that movie, the ultimate parody of the cement brained sovok lost in the new post-Communist world order. Russia, where fascist nationalism trumps democracy now, is loaded with deer-caught-in-the-headlights sovoks morphed into Putin voters.

Communism killed neurons and the will to live. Rehabilitation is out of the question for those folks. The saddest terminal end of Russia’s perpetual follies are the Putin piglets that land here spewing their fascism.

Yulia Latynina in the Moscow Times made an amusing observation about the Russian response to the crisis:

What does that mean in terms of social unrest? It won’t be anything like the mass protests that our leaders fear so much. In Russia, the main form of social protest in response to worsening conditions is more often than not self-degradation. The average unemployed factory worker will not start up his own business or take to the streets. He will most likely grab a bottle of vodka and quietly drink himself into oblivion for the next couple of years. This is his best anti-crisis program.

    How pathetic is that.

  6. German older generation is finally starting to talk about soviet atrocities in Germany.

2 million! okay, yes, it’s just an estimate but it’s an estimate for Germany alone.

  7. Penny –

    You are right.

It is unbelievable what the sovoks did to the people in terms of “cement brains.”

Predators and, as has been noted before – sheeple.

They have created generations of people who can’t think. It is simply beyond words to describe it.
