  1. Check this out: rookies from Russian occupational forces in Georgia start defecting to the Georgian side because Putin does not seem to realize they need to be fed and washed from time to time at least.

  2. What’s really hilarious is that the Kremlin is now saying he was kidnapped and forced to criticize the Russian army at gunpoint. As if dedovshchina is a figment of our imagination!

And so it goes in neo-Soviet Russia.

  3. Well I saw him last night on Rustavi 2, he looked pretty happy to be in Georgia!!

  4. The U.S. Marines are always looking for a few good men…maybe they could send a recruiter over there.

  5. I feel sorry for the poor kid.

  6. We might start to see a veritable flood of new Viktor Belenkos as the recession starts to bite…

  7. Apparently there are another 7 or 8 Russians that have defected to Georgia, but they asked not to appear on TV for fear of repercussions to their families.

  8. aaargh… sometimes the cynicism of the Russian Collective Mind just makes me cry.

Russian supreme court has rejected all claims submitted byt he family members of the Katyn massacre: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jivhZDPln5xifW3N86nTj_o7sbwQD960OST80

and at the same time, Medvedev is telling everyone to stop “falsifying” WWII history: http://www.themoscowtimes.com/article/1010/42/373959.htm

Everyone other than Russia, that is. Russia can lie and deny as much as she likes.

  9. um… you can’t be a family member of an event. you can be a family member of people that took part in that event though and that was what I meant.

  10. We understood what you meant er….

  11. One of my wife’s relatives was executed at katyn
